To OP:

Save up at least 50 of 'em so you can re-open the Portal and have the opportunity to buy the remaining relics off of the Creator.

They're best used for hiring the premium classes and upgrading relics at a faster pace.

ViP menu on tavernkeeper -- taps and shifter -- both nice functionality

1 time cost to unlock being able to hire each of the 4 premium classes in the tavern. After you spend the caps the first time it only costs a few hundred gold to hire them just like any other mercenary.

Faster purchasing of relic levels though it still follows about the same gold cost per relic level it is a heck of alot faster than essence. Click the tab in bottom left of the relic leveling window to switch to cap purchasing instead of essence.

After getting 50 or so, the portal reactivates to take you to th emysterious voice where you can buy relics for the premium and ViP classes as well as a physical damage increase relic. Don't worry it doesn't reset your dimension progress it's jsut another shop really.

yup -- once you have 1.5 billion gold on you it caps and you can't get any more. Then the wizard offers to exchange 1 billion gold for a mystic cap. After that, you can have it automatically convert 1 billion gold to 1 cap each time you hit 1.5 billion gold.
