What's the literal translation anyway? I don't speak German.
"Pleasure-stinger."
Which is an euphemism for p. enis.
The original concept of the first game was that of an eroge before they dropped it in favor of making a megaman clone; which is the best decision they could have ever made. Which means it's still a fitting name technically.
I hoped there would be a topic about the name and here it is.
Well done
Yeah, I was actually cracking up quite hard when I first saw the game! Actually, it kinda fits the art direction!
Shows how much i know Germany, i would have guessed "Rose's Thorn Stiletto".
Anyway, a megaman clone with sexy anime girls? ...What's the catch?
Apart from having this in your library. But hey, i already have Hyperdimension Neptunia's there, so too late to worry about that
Nononono. You're almost right with the normal name. It's rose-cross-stiletto
However, "Freudenstachel" is pleasure stinger.

Please get your mind out of the gutter.
"Rose-cross-stiettos Pleasure-sting"
And yes, "Pleasure-sting" is commonly used as a synonym for penis, which makes the whole titles kinda hilarious.
A friend of mine (japanese) once explained me how german sounds mysterious and aesthetically appealing to japanese people. I asked him what he thinks about "Tapetenrolle" and he was totally into it like "ooh yeah, that sounds pretty crazy".
I guess as long as its german, its good enough ^^ but you always have to consider that they didnt create the game for germans anyway :F
I'm more confused by the frequent Japanese usage of German words, because aside from WW2, I don't think they particularly got along very well.
