So which DoW II Titles/DLC are worth buying?
Whenever DoW II goes on sale, I think about getting it, but don't because I can never understand what content is actually what, between DLC including entire factions, and Stand alone expansions, and all that.

Which titles are worth getting? Do I just get Retribution? Or DOW II base and the x-pack? Is DLC only for one or the other? Which DLC is factions and which are just armor and stuff?

DOW1 is a bit old. DOW2 has GFWL. So, it leaves DOW:R, which is also the best of the series. As for the DLCs, I have no idea which ones.

I bought DOW II and Chaos, cos you can export your commander after finishing the 1st. And Retribution, for the Last Stand too.

For DLC, well, it depends on your playing style: I only play solo and Last Stand, so I've only bought the Last Stand DLC pack and the Tau Armor apart, because the pack that contained everything for LS, also contained the Race packs, and I didn't wanted them... because they are only multiplayer skins.

Also, for Retribution there is a pack with new weapons (2 I think) per campaign, but I see them as cheating. Didn't buy it.

last stand is mega value for money if you like team play

I would advise you to buy Dawn of War 2, Chaos Rising and Retribution, because this are the three main games. As you propably already know Dawn of War 2 tells the story of the Space Marines fighting against the Tyranids to protect the Aurelia system. In Chaos Rising the Planet Aurelia returns from the Warp and you have to fight against the Chaos Space Marines. Retribution then plays ten years after Chaos Rising and you are able to play as every race from the Dawn of War 2 games.

If you are interested in the story I would say you should by all games, because you know all the backgrounds for Retribution then. I also just have bought Retribution first, but without knowing what had happened before it wasn't really fun and I think a part of the atmosphere is going away as well.

Unfortunately I can't say anything to the DLCs, because I'm not interested in them, but even so i hope that I could help you.

then as i said Retribution, it comes will all of the factions and stuff the previous ones had, minus there storys but honestly you could youtube them.

if price isnt a concern get the DLC too, though its mostly items and reskined factions

I'd say just get Retribution. It's the latest title, so it has the biggest community.
The DLC you should get depends on what you play.
The Tau Commander & Last Stand wargear if you play Last Stand
The race packs if you play the campaign
The skins for multiplayer (although they really aren't necessary)

Note that all prices I'm quoting are 75% off the regular price. I suggest buying on sale.

I suggest that you get:
1 "Dawn of War 2: Complete Pack" ($15 on sale for 75% off) which includes all Dawn of War 2 titles but no DLC and;
2. "Dawn of War 2: Retribution complete DLC bundle" which is 75% off for $7.50~ and contains all the DLC, you should get as many items in that bundle as are listed as individual DLC pieces which I think is 18.
Total cost $22.50~.

If you want to spend less money then buy only DoW2:Retribution for 75% off at $7.50~.

Middle ground is getting the DoW2: complete pack for $15~ because you get DoW2 original and DoW2 Chaos Rising for about $3.75~ each so it's a better deal than picking them up later. Last I checked there was no/low playerbase for these games multiplayer but the campaign is still worth it and better value than the DLC in my opinion.

The DLC is not really worth the money when compared to the rest of the games $/$ content/content, but since you are getting 75% off I suggest get the DLC as well if you have the cash. The DLC is for Retribution ONLY.

I'd even pick up DoW1 Platinum Pack (find the platinum pack by finding DoW1 or DoW1 Gold and it's on the store page)+Soulstorm if you can afford it and don't have it. Total for that is only $12.50~.

So for total $35~ you can get: Complete DoW1+Complete DoW2 and all DLC for Retribution.

Retribution is where the multiplayer community is mostly. IF you buy 1 thing buy that.

One thing, DO NOT buy the DLC in individual pieces or even the smaller packs, get the complete pack or none at all because it is a way better deal to get the complete pack and you honestly know you will want it all eventually even though it's a bit of a rip-off.

I liked the coop campaign in Retribution a lot, so I can definitely recommend that one

Personnaly I'm a lot interested in last stand which I played a bit on DoW II, so I bought Retribution and the "Tau commander + all wargear" DLC for last stand

Just DoW2: Retribution.

You don't really need to play the first two Dawn of War 2 games to enjoy Retribution, and the DLCs seem pretty bad in my opinion.

That said, I personally think that Chaos Rising has the best writing in the series.

Still needs more optimization pretty badly :L A aignificant improvement so far, but the FPS seems to drop into the 20-30 range for me after a short while. Could just be my computer overheating, it does have some problems with that.
