Simply put, none of the audio tweaks works. All of your suggestions have been tried long time ago and none of them fixes the issue, only reducing frequency of occurence. And, "-nosound" parameter should've worked for you, because the game just doesn't launch the sound subsystem with it, thus eliminating conditions for bug triggering.
I didn't see any forums about the enhancements sounds. Everything was Audio drivers and frequencies that were getting reported as bugs.
The reason i said -nosound didn't work is because it's still broke if the game has no sound. I was getting this bug every 2-3 matches easily and than i clicked disable enhancements and it never happened again. I must of went 15-20 matches in a row without it happening one time.
I will update this post if i get any sound glitches but as far as right now this seems to be working for me, hopefully this can help someone else too.
Well, that's strange. Not even going to assume anything, 'cause I've never encountered this, but seen really strange things related to Windows 10, while on Windows 7 everything is stable as rock in exactly same scenarios. But, honestly, my mind is really blown away (for the umpteenth time, damn it).
It's been the same situation for me and I wondered about "what am I doing wrong if there's no sb" :) Needless to say that once bug started, I had it the same 2-3 matches as you then.
We'll see. It would be nice if the problem were solved I guess.
Check "disable Enhancements" in Sound properties ------- I don't remember "Enhancements" settings in XP and vista. I think vista was Windows main OP at the time when this game was made
Played again for a while last night and nothing, so far im good.
What i did here was i went into DOW2 main folder, there is a file called "Essence.ini" i clicked on it edit with notepad. In the middle somewhere there is options for sounds...
i changed
sound_speed = from 300 to 100
So now i notice the very first sound wave that comes into the game like if the orks start going warghhhh or guns shooting the game will almost have a fps hiccup every game at the start of the first sound that comes into the game and than it never happens again. At 300 it never does that fps spike but i think the speed is causing the clog for the voices to get messed up....
Not 100% sure it fixes it but it seems to at the moment i just gotta run more game... try this lemme know....
This still working for you?
You will have no sound at all but sound crash bug will not happen, I just play some music and all. Some people say disabling sfx in game works but I never tested that.
I'm trying this now, and will see if it makes a difference for me. I'm on a new machine. Old machine didn't have this issue anymore after I updated realtek audio drivers. Guess I got lucky on that. Though I have not touched this game since the ridiculous blood pack and necron lord were both introduced. i'll update if i have issues. no news is good news.
Yes still works but i have not tested enough. Try it let me know for sure what i have tested and all games i played i did not have a problem but this bug is so random so who knows.
Good luck and please let me know if it happens so i can narrow it down..
No way do i see this a fix. When a new game comes out and they advertise the game has no sound or music very few may buy, if anyone. This is not a fix what your saying it's a solution to the problem that isn't fix. It's like putting a band aid on a broken leg. But yes you are 100% right if you use this command the bug can never trigger so it will never happen. Im just trying to narrow it down and find the source of this bug so we can play with the sound :)
I might have found a slight solution. Im still in the process of testing.
Open an "Essence" file in the main folder, edit the "sound_speed" from 300 to 150 and turn off in-game speech volume. Give it a go. If it doesnt work, turn off Music Volume also.
