DoW 2: Retribution lag spikes caused by software issue
Hello everyone, I have asked for help regarding this problem on 3 different forums, but without avail.
So as a last ditch effort before I completly reset my harddrive I thought I try and ask for help regarding this problem on the Steam forums.
Basicly I used to run DoW 2 Retribution on ultra settings flawless on my pc with the following specs:
Intel Core I7 4770 @3.4GHz
16GB RAM
GTX770
But my harddrive crashed and had been replaced by a same type of harddrive (warranty), after this I reinstalled Steam and all other programs wich run complelty fine except for Retribution.
The problem specifically being huge lag spikes that especially occur when go from one side of the map to another making a fast paced game like DoW not only unplayable but this also indicates there is a error in place.
What I have tried:
1) Update DirectX via the Microsoft site - tells my I have the latest updates for my DirectX
2) Switch to a older GPU driver - this appeared to work for a while but after I shut of my pc and reboot the next day to play again the lag spikes are back (I switched back to the new driver 340.52).
3) Validiate files via Steam - each time I try to validate the files Steam starts a 7MB long update, even after it has been downloaded, I can try to validate again and it will show my that it downloaded again a 7MB long file.
After I downloaded it and try to start the pc I am being asked if I want to delete my save games or not, since I have tried this multiple times I have tried delete and not.
After this it shows DirectX for Microsoft is being installed, than the game starts and works properly for 1 day as I showed in attempt 2.
4) Install the DirectX via the files in the Steam folder itself (D:/Steam/Steamapps/DoW2Retribution/install) this however is pretty interesting cause, each time I start the installation it shows me that it's copying files (files like DX9sound etc.)
What I find odd about this is that it says copying instead of installing or downloading, not sure if that is relevant but might be.
Also this process can keep being repeated multiple times in a row with the same results each time, this also seems to fix the lag spikes for 1 day.
Pretty sure that's has been done till now, I might try to delete the game and reinstall it again, but I have little hope in that.
Anyway, thanks for whoever took the time read this, any kind of help is appreciated.

Are you running the open beta?

If you mean the Beta regarding the servers (If I read correct), than no.
Could that be causing the problem?

I wasn't sure if you had this issue with the Retribution Open Beta or not. Can you please try the open beta and let me know if you are experiencing these issues?

Well I have downloaded the beta after the game started to have lag spikes again, so either the Beta or refreshing my Steam folder apeared to have fixed it for now.
Only problem now being that I can't find any players or matches online, not sure wether this is a bug or because most people are not participating in the Beta.
Is there any way to switch to the version where most players are at the moment?

I have just run in to lag spikes again only this time much quicker, are there any other possibilities?

You can switch out of the Open Beta. If you are still getting lag spikes, then can you let me know what region you are playing from, and what type of internet connection you have?
