Game Won't Launch on Windows 11
Hello!

I acquired this game as it's a favorite of a friend of mine, but I am afraid that I have been unable to play it, or even get it to launch, nor have I found any suitable fixes for it.

Naturally I've tried the expected items;
Reinstalled
Verified Game Cache
Ran in compatibility mode for Windows 7 & 8

But I'm afraid no matter what I've done, I've been unable to get this game to launch. The moment I hit "Play", the game goes straight to a black screen and remains unresponsive. I have looked around for some fixes, but I'm afraid I have been unable to find anything that works, and would appreciate any help that those out there could offer.

This is what you're looking for. A patch is required for high core count computers. Someone on Github resolved it.

Retribution is NOT being fixed by this. Only normal DOW2 and Chaos Rising

Confirmed, Retribution still crashes when you get to the final boss, after all the effort put in to get to the last stage of the map.
But there is a fix for intel x11 and up but also the profile.dll, any DX-9 games prefer for you to have OpenGL/Triple Buffering on in Drivers.
Problem with bird brain penguin, they post the source code always, but almost never the release file, the actual compiled file.

Good evening. I recently changed my notebook (right now I have a HP notebook with 16 CPU cores) and reinstalled my Steam games. I wanted to play Dawn of War II: Retribution and sadly noticed that when I click the play button the seems to start but in the end does not start. Following some discussion on Steam I noticed that the problem could be the high number of cores of the CPU and tried the Corefix solution (both on Github website and both and the DOW2 mods website linked below):

https://github.com/maximumgame/DOW2CoreFix
https://www.moddb.com/mods/dow2-modding-tools-game-fixes/downloads/corefix

I also read some tutorials about the "The file d3dx9_xx.DLL was not found" related to the Direct X:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/game-error-the-file-d3dx9-xx-dll-was-not-found-0527b68b-0490-0a98-0c3a-57304047f974

Even this did not solve the issue.

Have I neglected anything? What else could I try?
