- They move and hit a little harder, but are also squishier.
- More micro intensive (w/ high impact abilities).
Together, that makes them harder to play, but also very strong when played well.
Curious what others think, since I'm pretty newb.
They are already the micro-heaviest and difficult to play on vanilla (speaking as an Eldar main). Not to mention that they drop models like flies in vanilla unless you pick your engagement extremely well. It just doesn't seem worth the effort to play them in Elite mod.
Was it ever? I've played since 2011, and mostly saw people overwhelmingly pick SM/FC. Eldar and Tyranids were in fact quite rare picks, compared to SM, Chaos or IG.
That's still all vanilla DoWII (with proper micro, unit synergy and careful engagement picking, one can still make them work in Retribution). But Elite mod has... weird priorities. Further nerf Eldar, whose struggles are the hardest during t1. Yes, Dark Reapers and Fire Dragons are awesome, but good luck getting there when you constantly bleed Dire Avenger/Banshee models to pretty much every unit that looks their way. Let's not forget that every other faction gets their artillery on tier 2, whereas Eldar get it on tier 3. And the Fire Prism tank is made of wet cardboard.
When trying Elite mod, I had to switch to Chaos (I'll admit to being outright terrible as SM), and unless I was fighting Ordo Maleus (which was pretty OP back when I bothered), and compared to playing Eldar, it felt like face-rolling through the match.
saying the eldar are weak in t1 is like LMAO ROFL L2P GITGUD SCRUB makes no sense scrubs dont know how to play lmao they arent even the hardest faction to play that belongs to the IG in both retail and elite lmao. its a l2p problem scrubs
No need for foul language and slandering. Please tell us why you think Eldar are better in Elite mod 1v1. I for one still see them drop models like flies and struggle big time against vehicles, especially Dreadnoughts and Predators (as well as their respective Chaos variants). Also, Imperial Guard has been nerfed too, both the Sentinel and the Catachans are not nearly as potent as in vanilla. Which would be a perfectly okay change IF they buffed the Guardsmen and HWTs. But they remain as feeble as ever.
It's been a LONG time since I played, but Eldar never had the best t1 units. Banshees lose to unupgraded Heretics and BARELY win against unupgraded Sluggas. Dire Avengers bleed models to Shoota boys with Nobs or Big Shootas a lot. Shuriken cannon teams are pretty easily dislodged or disrupted by the Ork Kommando or Mekboy (as well as infiltrated Sluggas if you have 75 Red for "Hide da Boyz") The Warboss with "Angry Bitz" also takes care of a Shuriken. The Warlock is one of the weakest offense commanders in the game.
Eldar models are a lot more expensive to replace than Tyranid/Ork models as well.
