Why do people hate ultra marines/Matt ward?
I've heard of hate for both the ultra mar and who ever Matt ward is

Why is that?

Matt Ward was a writer for the fluff and did some other stuff I’m not familiar with.
Imagine you’re watching power rangers. Blue ranger shows up and for the whole season ROFLstomps every bad guy out there while acting like a tool. Also the bad guys are hilariously poorly written and do truly nonsensical things that are largely out of character.

Now apply said concept to warhammer. But if you think people hate the smurfs that much let’s talk about the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ grey knights.

Ahhh, yes. Gray Knights. 40k's Russian nesting marines. They are a Marine with a monk jammed in their sphincter. With an inquisitor jammed in the monk and another marine jammed in the inquisitor for good measure. :bolter:

To explain how dumb his lore was I’m going to tell you a story.
One day the blood angels were purging Xenos in the name of the emperor like good space marines. But these Xenos were special. They were the tyranids who somehow got really far past where they were originally spotted at the current time period. These tyranids were very good at kicking space marine ass, so good in fact that the local tomb world decided that these tyranids needed to be purged in the name of the emperor... I mean in the name of the ctan.
The Necrons team up with the blood angels to destroy a common enemy as the Necrons in question looked at the system as their property. Well together they win and get ready to kill each other. Instead they essentially share a fist bump then both leave.
It's explained quite colourfully here, I believe:

https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Matthew_Ward

Check out the 'Why does /tg/ hate this guy so much?' part.

Also, 'https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Khornate_Knights

Edit: Oh, come on, they censor part of the link. Anyways, the missing bit just in case it wasn't obvious is 4 c h a n without the spaces. ^^

And the biggest issue isn’t even the Necrons working with humans. Necrons aren’t entirely mindless and will help people out if it benefits them. It’s the execution of the whole debacle. But even that’s not as retarded as the single marine who broke the grey knights: Kaldor Draigo.

that's a whole other topic. ♥♥♥♥ the beast was a weird time.

Anyways Kaldor Draigo managed to tear out the heart of a daemon primarch named Mortarion then carve the name of the previous grandmaster into it before banishing him back to the warp. He also just freely runs about the warp like an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who doesn't obey the established rules of the setting.

Hahahaha i can't believe steam forums auto censor the word " 4 c h a n " that's hilarious and yeah let us not forget the grey knights using sisters of battle to paint their armour.

To put it plainly many people dislike narrative Mary Sues, Matt Ward is not among those people.
