I didnt until recently, but the mechanicum are neat to play...
Personally, I think the work done with mods such as these by unpaid people is actually leagues ahead of Dawn of War 3 in some ways even.
Now, as some may know, Dawn of War 2 does have Elite mod which is one of the best and is still being added to.
It isnt strictly on the scale of UA, but the last time I played it, they had the option of Grey Knights as a race, based on the work of the older "Destroyer 40k" mod.
That, plus a lot more unit diversity for starters.
At least its good for breathing new life into the skirmishes.

Someone has been working on a mod for that called "Forgotten Emerald" that I have been keeping an eye on.
More levels, more varied wargear, hero types etc but still being worked on.
