Carnifex and Swarm lord do not have vehicle armor (Tbh: I'm surprised that Tyranids weren't a DLC race).
If you're facing a serious Tyranid player, you want to prepare your upgrades/troops for Tier 3 if you are not in a position to finish them in Tier 2. Even during the destruction of their base, you may still have to deal with a Carnifex (this assuming you are playing Annihilation mode). A level 1 Carnifex isn't that hard to deal with, but it will level quickly.
My best solution: Deal with the Gaunts (make sure to wipe out the complete squad), prepare heavy anti-melee for Warriors, bash Energy Nodes. These are not options, they are all in the strategy to counter 'Nids'.
I haven't seen a lot of really good Tyranid players recently, but they are indeed a force to be matched.
I suggest practicing as Chaos against them. Chaos has some nice hard counters against Tyranids.
Note: Others' opinion(s) may vary.
