Matchmaking
I have a fighter who's reputation is a All Time Great and the super featherweight champion of NA, and l'm looking to get him to fight on the Global Boxing Federation and get that belt. I can't seem to find fighers willing to fight him. I'm ranked too low to fight top 100 fighters and anything lower are not willing to fight him as they don't want to be his stepping stone. Any way to get around this? Also how can one market a GBF?

As far as I can tell from my own recent/first successful playthrough - the trick to winning world titles is to switch to the world feds as soon as you get to 'respectable opponent' and can fight in them. Pretty gutted to find this out the hard way, cos like you I have an All Time Great who finds it hard to get fights - luckily he makes weight in 2 days (!) and his training rate is insane so his skills are good enough to handle the few lower ranked-high rep/skill fighter who'll give him a shot.

In terms of marketting in a world promotion, I've not found a way to do so yet, despite trying all quality of stations in pretty much every region, so I guess its no doable at the minute??? Luckily by the time you reach all time great you can generally bring in ~100k, absolute minimum, in guaranteed purse; with (using fighter mentioned above) a world title fight bringing in 5mil in purse and another 30-40mil if you get 50% PPV split.

Thank you for the reply. Sucks that it works that way but if that's what i gotta do then I'll do it! I have another question. In starting a new playthrough, for your first fighter, do you simply cylce through students until you have a decent fighter and try to build him up from there? I find it difficult to use any fighters except for Boxer types to be succesful which is I think i got lucky with this particular playthrough.

I think in terms of starting fighter 'type' I think it is pretty much preference - I prefer counterpunchers and then boxers because whenever I've tried sluggers/swarmers I just get beat up, even in 'normal' (ie. not fighting vs weakness) fights. In terms of selecting a fighter I just cut students until I get one who looks at least 'ok' (ie. 8-12 in their 'main' stats) then train him professionally, unless he cant make weight in 35 days or less - at which point he gets retired and the process starts again until I can find a student who has the stats and is able to make weight in good time.

If the fighter looks to be good but cant make weight can you not just change his weight class to a higher one so the weight loss isnt as drastic?

They suffer a penalty if you just switch from one class to another with out fighting a few matches (with their match penalities) to get your fighter used to fighting at that weight class.

For world promotions you can not market the fight for PPV. That is only for regional fights. It is made this way so you still "want" to do your regional fights as they will give you the most money.

What are you guys doing to find good matches early on? Without a filter, do you just spend time cycling through all the opponents possible until you find an unknown or local name?

@nswetye: indeed, that's what I'm doing. But developer is trying to install a better filter so probably this will be easier to do when this is installed.
look at the discussion: "I like the new GUI, but please add filters..."
