Running ahead and triggering all the spawns on a team you know is slow will not make them run faster you only end up killing your team. The idea that tough love will force them to play differently is not really going to make them change. Personally just being a team player until they die and then playing it normally seems to be the way to make them think about how much more effective you were alone and them just watching that is enough to make them change over time. When I was new players who ran ahead and just ditched the team just made me hate speed runners, it took people willing to spend the time with the team for me to understand that running ahead can be useful and how to do it right.
In my mind the best way to play is with the team and when they are dead to play as you would solo, that will have them look at it in a much better light then trying to teach by force.
In short Team game then run game.
I have one rule for pubs. Go fast if you want but only if you can deal with all ♥♥♥♥ you trigger so other players don't get overwhelmed by it. This still make experience for new players worse because people are gonna kill everything and do objectives themself, making newbie feel like a useless follower. But that's something we need to deal with in such small community.
Rushers are not a problem on difficulties above brutal. But the amount of people who can survive there is very small as well. And you need to stick to "meta" so its limiting the stuff you can take to what works well.
The new player was there already. Some other players joined later. Only host can change difficulty. Host should have kept difficulty the same.
In my opinion, if you join a game, you have to adept to the game you are joining. If existing lobby wants slow and normal, it's slow and normal. If the more experienced players don't want that, they can make a new lobby.
But Im don't totally agree, because if the rusher has a minimum of skill in high difficulty he'll trigger all spawn and often cause death to one or several players from his team.
Rushers and the refusal of teamplay is a problem that has always existed and unfortunately there is no real solution to this problem put apart proposed a votekick but if there are several then there is no hope.
Also, do not confuse the intentional non-teamplay and the non-teamplay caused by the lack of experience and knowledge in the game.
Indeed some people do not teamplay because they are not aware of their ability to help their alies, but in view of your explanations it does not seem to be that.
The most viable solution is to play with people you know and with gameplay that matches yours.
Personally, I sometimes want to play Alien Swarm as a team and with good difficulty, but I don't because there are no lobbies with players of my level.
I have to accept it because, as Bounty says, we are a small community.
What a coincidience Ax, you were in that game yesterday. (surprise surprise, I had another nickname and pic)
And yes you were the one as well, not the one rushing with Faith equipped with flamer (yes, that one rushing timor station too, I would understand it on Syntek atleast), but for sure Brutal Syntek mission triggering first vent (with jaeger and 5fm, is it that hard to place it there?) and passing it to the Wolf player and me with sarge trying to protect him behind resulting mostly as his death.
Rocket boots jumping timor station I wont even mention I guess. (all the rushers died, including rocket jumping tech, bomb activated and timer running, meanwhile the three survivor newbs with the Wolf trying to get hopelessly far behind to the bomb trigger terminal, not realizing, time running already out and the inevitable death incoming)
I get it, there were no asbi lobbies yesterday and only Brutal game was NE GA hellion lobby, overcrowded with full 12 players (and many more joining&leaving) of a 8players that could play.
Even if, it is not the first time you are doing this.
Reconsider how you behave first, then talk. Thanks. (even tho we know each other many years and playing together with no prob, you have not changed over the years. Dont take this as hate, I was rude enough before ragequit yesterday, it is a friendly reminder from my side, hope we stay friends.)
Still waiting for a challenge that'll change running speed to walking speed so rushers will have a hard time
I called "Go" several times after hack done, saw that nobody understood that the object was done and that nobody wanted to follow me.
I made the decision to try to complete the last part of the mission on my own in the hope that the other survivors die because it remained 40seconds.
Maybe I should have joined the two players lost on the map and let the nuke bomb explode.
My bad i guess.
Oh that was you.

That was just before I rq after few missions. I see you are being defensive... Whatever, message not delivered..
Have fun.
1. An random brutal, nice game is running, without hardcore or onslaught;
2. Some new players join;
3. Those players immediately start saying 'gay leader', 'not even hardcore ff', '♥♥♥♥ leader', 'vote gay leader', 'kick him out';
4. Above mentioned players are unhappy, start killing other community members;
5. Things escalate.
Logs don't tell everything, but this behavior is against steam etiquette. If you are such an 'experienced' player, why ruin a game and not create a new lobby of your own?
But if joining an existing game.. not really. Adept to what the leader wants or just create your own lobby if you don't like it.
I confess that I no longer remember in detail what happened last night, I mean, I listened music and played in autopilot without paying too much attention to what happened in the game. (my bad)
Next time if you have a problem with my gameplay tell me directly to the game or in a private message the same day, not the next day on the forums, it will be much more productive and will avoid unnecessary drama.
and btw we are human, not robots, sometimes we do missplay.
