Keep getting randomly kicked back to the main menu?

Am I getting kicked from the game? Am I losing connection? It happens in-game as well as in the lobby and I haven't been able to complete a single mission online without getting booted back to the menu at some point.

Also as it turns out if the server is playing a workshop campaign you've not downloaded it kicks you. Could do with a message at the very least informing you need to download the campaign to join.

If you were in a lobby that changes map to a campaign you don't have, you probably should have said so or just leave.

If you joined a lobby with a custom campaign, it gives you a link (I don't think it works) to download it. Check it on workshop.

Anything that you don't own has a large ? on the map preview, apart from Bonus Campaign.

Man, I want to like this game but it's just so broken. Constantly getting kicked to the main menu for some reason and never being told what the hell just happened, trying to join a match and the only thing you join is the main menu for some reason, random crashes to desktop for some reason. Wtf? Does this shit always happen, or what? This is unplayable.

Have you tried the dedicated servers thing like yojimbo suggested? What you're describing sounds like you're joining random host games that tend to be unreliable as the host can shut it down at a rage quit and the crashes could be caused by connections, ping spikes from the host's localserver.

It's the last option on the 'play online' fly out menu. Or you can enable console from the keyboards options and bring up the console with the key ` and typing 'openserverbrowser'. The server browser is the best way to search for games as it tells you what campaigns/levels, players, pings or mods are running on any given server.

Like I said, server shutdown.

If you got kicked, a message will appear.

Press the tilda ~ button on your keyboard to call up the console. There will be a message there saying something along the lines of "server shutting down..."
