Can't find a game

I honestly am not sure if this is a me problem or a game problem, but anytime I try and play online there is literally no games available. If I go to quick game, custom game, or even create one, I can never find anything available and it's so annoying because it's a really fun game and I want to play it but I can't. Is playing with friends the only way? Like do I have to find a group to play with to even get to play? Because that's what it seems like and it's really frustrating. Also I can't find anywhere how to add bots because I would even settle for playing with bots at this point since playing with people doesn't seem to be an option, but I can't find those either. I would really like to play the game but I keep coming back every day or two to see if I can find a game to join and I can't and it is so annoying because I can't even play the game that I bought. And I realize that this game is fairly old but I have a hard time believing that there is not at least 2-3 people trying to play this game at any given time.
