Game won't launch - unable to complete 2-step verification
I play monopoly plus here at Steam often.
Once or twice a year, Ubisoft does something that requires 2-step verification from me again. Usually it goes off without an issue...
...I get their email codes, I verify my game, and everything works fine again.

This time, however, the emails with the 2-step verification codes won't arrive at my email address. I am unable to complete the verification process. I can log in at Ubisoft, but doing anything sends me back to the 2-step verification loop.

I contact them to ask for help. They respond to my same email address - I got their email - no issue there.

Ubisoft contacts me, but I'm unsure if they understood the problem. I simply need their email containing the codes to arrive. I don't know what they think I am trying to do. My game is legal and was purchased here. Please help me if you can. Thanks.

Here's what was written:

"Thank you for contacting Ubisoft Support.

It appears that you're reaching out to recover your account. Ubisoft Support takes account security very seriously. After looking over the account and the information provided, we aren't able to verify ownership of the account. Because of this we will not be able to assist you further with your request. Thank you for taking the time to contact support for assistance. We will be closing the case for now.

If you need anything else other than the recovery of the account, please do let us know and we will see what we can do. I hope that you have a great rest of your evening.

Kind regards,

Ubisoft Support "

If no e-mails arrive and support doesn't do anything about it, who else could help in any way? Do you have the recovery codes still for the 2-factor auth? That is the only way to remove or disable the auth.

https://www.ubisoft.com/en-us/help/account/article/information-about-2-step-verification-recovery-codes/000063165

That was also the only way for me to get back completely into my account because i was in the same situation but for me the codes arrived but never worked, no matter how often i put them in correctly.

For that i don't recommend to even set 2-factor auth up.
I asked Steam for help. They did what they could.
Ubisoft doesn't seem to understand the problem.
I can login, but cannot access anything. I'm in a loop.
I try to do anything, straight to the 2-step verification I go.
I tell it to send codes that never arrive - that is the problem.

I don't have any March 2020 email with 6 recovery codes. Who saves those?
I'm not even sure what they're talking about - 6 recovery codes from 2-step setup? When? When I bought and installed the game through Steam and was forced to accept and install ubisoft and uplay 5 years ago? So if those are lost, my game is lost (?)
Other than then, I have no idea when or if I agreed to 2-step verification.
I am trying to remove that now, but I can't do anything at ubisoft but log in.

Lost focus at a critical moment and gave Ubisoft my Steam username instead of my Ubisoft username. That's why the weird response from them, I think.
( I had the proper email address and password, yet somehow didn't know my correct username?) That might seem suspicious to them.

I think I'm locked out. They mention recovery codes that I don't have.
But why won't their emails with the codes arrive? Their reply did.

I think uninstalling the game and ubisoft is next.
Reboot and run without them for some time.
Contact ubisoft again and try to explain what happened.
If I could buy the game again and restart the process I would.

Their options for explaining one's issues are too broad.

Thanks for your effort. I'll update if I have any luck.
Well, the recovery codes function like master keys for your Ubi account, granting you complete access again and allowing for all possible changes, including changing or removing 2-factor auth.

Iirc they haven't sent them to me over e-mail because i used a authenticator app but they were displayed directly on the Ubi website, so i had to write them down and save them for later.

The problem with an already linked Steam account to Ubi is that whenever you run a Ubi game on Steam, the launcher forces you to log-in into the Ubi account you are locked out from now.

So buying the games again doesn't make a difference. You would have to create a new Steam account and a new Ubi account to be able to activate a game again on your Ubi account launched thru Steam.

Only then you start completely anew.

Good luck.
Thanks. It's not going well. I got mad and let if fly at them, so at least they're communicating now. Still going in circles - I got as far as the option to disable 2-step verification - as soon as I selected it I got sent back to the 2-step dance page. Ubisoft wants proof of purchase. Steam showed me where to get it, but the screenshots I took don't seem to appease them. They apparently need me to use some PC Client thing for screenshots, but that looks nothing like something I want on my PC. Unless they're talking about something else. It's just so weird after 4 years of this having to jump through hoops at all - like I have to keep proving I bought the darn thing. I'm hopeful one day I'll be able to play this game that no one else seems to like. Loner Monopoly - I need friends lol.
