It does have bots for sp though yes
I only play offline and I really enjoy this version.
Yes, you can play by yourself (assuming at least one AI player).
There are 5 AI players to play against.
On hard level, the AI opponents know exactly what they're doing, and they don't make it easy. There are some great variations, including a living board, and a challenging cut-throat choice - where you can put up buildings on any property you own without having to own the entire set (excluding RRs & utilities). That makes things interesting. And I think the game actually cheats. It's subtle, but flaunt your wealth by spending too much, and suddenly you're landing on tax properties way more often. It will also do that to you if you let yourself run too low on cash, so beware! Great fun.
and doesn't have any issues with the offline mode
online can be dicey if people you're playing with are very far away or have bad internet
but for the most part it works quite well and even if they do disconnect
they are able to rejoin fairly quickly.
the only thing i would say needs improvement is being able to use custom rules
or atleast be able to combine the existing ones .
