Knight, Witcher or pure Mercenary
What is your prefered melee pick and why?

I'm really struggling with deciding what to go for and would love to hear the opinion of others.

Previously I would have said Mercs because it was easier to buff them given our mithril restrictions. Now I like the witcher/assassin combo. Or just fully max bombadiers, and use amazons or assassins for flyers.

I run max bombardiers at the moment but on higher difficulties i still feel the need for a good melee unit.

I like witchers for their attack speed but can't shake the feeling that really high damage numbers work better on high difficulties considering how armor works in this game.

What is better against what? I mean Shieldmaidens/ Assassins and Knight/ Witchers.
Catti Jun 9, 2017 @ 7:53am
In theory they have the same strenghts and weaknesses. It's just that since armor reduces damage by a flat amount and not a percentage, higher damage is less affected by it.
On the other hand fast attack speed helps with big waves of smaller enemies.
i choose Knight but now i want Witcher it s possible to change ? or Keeping both ?
thx

Anyone having an opinion to the actual topic?

Edit: Does anybody know by how much the witcher damage gets increased per hit?

I believe it's still to early too evaluate all the options; the final upgrades for witcher/knight aren't even available yet, and there is no equipment for assassin/shieldmaiden in the shop yet.

My personal opinion is that witcher is superior to knight, since dps before armor for the witcher seems far superior, while the mobs' armor seems rather insignificant. Also, witcher's ability is always useful, while the knight's stun ability is only really useful when the last mob of a wave passes through, which is rare.

Finally, witcher is more flexible and can clear groups better.

Witcher hits for 90 on the 1st hit, 112.5 2nd hit, then 140.625 on 3rd hit, nothing lives long enough for 4th hit this is with the formula of +25% increase per ruin which can increase to +50% at castle 4, which would be 90 1st hit, 135 2nd hit, 202.5 3rd at +50% increase per ruin

knight is 150 per hit each time boom big hits with aoe stun every now and then for me its all about attack speed and I require the witcher since not all mobs require the 150 dmg every time but the fast slaps the witcher provides

Yeah Knights are much slower but work well with commanders horn striking quicker then Witchers, both are fun to play with depending on your style, its good people use different combinations as it would be boring if everyone used the same build.

Thanks everyone. That was really helpful input =)

From what i have personally noticed, Witchers are a lot better when they cover a big area and can build up their hits. With smaller coverage i feel like the Knights become more impactful.

I didn't even take the future upgrades into consideration. 50% more damage per hit sounds immensely powerful. Plus it helps that multiple Witchers can build up on the same target.

If your using archers then witchers are probably more suited, if your using Bombarders they take care of large groups easy so the knights can take down the larger targets. I will be playing around with both just to have some fun with something different
