I think the main problem with this "puzzle" is the lack of instruction. Simply throwing a glitch door at people with one specific option to solve it is not fun, so only the true sociopaths will chase it down. There is no value behind the door, because as far as we know, it's just black space. These sorts of hints the dev is dropping should be IN GAME hints.
And that leads me to my next point -- The game is hollow. It's missing something after the first few floors. You don't have any direction, instruction, interaction or communication with the little spirit beside you, and it has no goals to aspire to. Each conversation with the NPCs you do get to meet are pretty repetitive, if they say any words at all.
I would fix this by implementing dialogue related to each new creature you come across via the little spirit guide, as well as delivering lore through NPCs instead of just boring notes I have no attachment to. Overall, the game feels a bit lonely.
