The game is unplayable when Steam is restarted

While playing this game, Steam restarts itself. The game is not closed, but I use the controller. And whatever keys were pressed, they continue to be pressed after Steam is restarted. Because of that, sometimes there is no way to finish the level. And when I play the coop mode, the second controller is never reconnected after that, until I restart the game. This is very frustrating. I had to restart the same level many times!
The only useful observe is that this happens after an hour.
