Can't change the menu

I bought this game yesterday... and I discovered a bug or error (or whatever). I know I should be able to change the menu (when a new dish is unlocked) yet somehow I am unable to do so... anyone else got this problem?

Okay I think I somehow figured it out. I turned the Game Tips off (since I know how to play it). I figured it could be linked with that somehow so I turned them back on... and now I suddenly can change the menu.
So I guess the problem is solved... though it's somewhat annoying that I need to keep the tips on. I don't really need them since I played this game several times already. Oh well...

I know I'm a little late on the draw here, but I had the same problem... after playing a few levels of the 1st restaurant, I suddenly couldn't change the menu. I followed Minoushje's advice and turned on game hints. Voila, I could change the menu again. However, I got sick of the game hints and turned them back off and I'm still able to change the menu. So maybe you just have to turn them on, then back off again in order for the "change menu" option to work.
