How exactly to link steam to nexon account?

So i am seeing threads say you can link your accounts, but ive been on the website and i dont see this option, how exactly is this done?

Once you launch the game, you will be asked to create or link your Nexon account. If you don't see the message, then you have already connected Nexon account with your Steam account in the past with other games.

I have done this and for some reason My characters did not carry over. looking into config for my profile the number string folder I assume is the reference to my account does not match the steam version. How can I fix this to ensure my accounts are properly linked as linking did not work correctly in steam.
