I think this is a computer game that displays visuals from its visual database.

Was the game even that moddable ?

I don't think it was as moddable as SW games such as Kotor, Jedi Knight , Empire at War and Battlefront.

All software is modable, hence the softness.

No one has taken a crack at it, I'd love to see this remastered with todays tech but doubt it will happen.

Impossible. All game logic and models are stored within the exe apparently. Unless someone reverse engineers it, not happening.

Only way to make the graphics abit better
if you use reshade.
as the mxao filter and any other filters can be added in
with a few additional effects
like light bloom and toon or comics details.

Thats one option
I was tihnking more texture resolution and polygon counts, but thats also an option that can make things more beautiful

Wait, how do you know that the models are stored in the exe?
(That seems rather unusual)

I just found a way to mod some aspects of the game, just not the ones you were looking for. The sound and music files can be found in sub-folders of the steam game's directory. .wav for the sound and .ogg for the music. I just tried it with totally random music and sound effects. This included using the original Wilhelm scream to replace the one they created. There are also .bmp files there that are used by the main menu's ui and backgrounds. I haven't tried it, but I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to mess with them.

The original sound quality isn't the greatest, probably to save disk space. Using something like audacity and google you could probably find and use higher quality versions of the effects or edit the originals.

Well that sure sounds more productive and aware than many previous posters. Thank you for sharing those ideas and how they worked out in your experimentation, I found the wilhelm scream part particularly amusing xD

I will try to poke around with it someday.

Please let me any anyone else that reads this know if you try or learn anything else.

Did you say you saw UIs and textures, but no models or "skins" ?
What degree of certainy can you say if models and textures (For the models) are in there also?

Thanks again for posting something positive and constructive and not blowing the whole idea off cause "its old". :)
