Assuming you mean Divinity: Original Sin 2, instead of Divine Divinity 2, then Divinity 2.

Edit: There is also Divinity 2, which a completely different game, although all three are made by Larian...

If you've played older games like Baldur's Gate 1/2 or SW:Kotor, or newer ones like Pathfinder games, maybe even the older Dragon Age games (Mass Effect a bit, too), this will feel natural.

Outside of the mechanical differences between RTWP vs Turned Based Tactics, a lot of the newer Larian games have a very "open" feel to them, not just in terms of the world, but the core mechanics let you do a lot of really crazy things. For example, if you build your character with enough strength, you can put stuff like explosive barrels in your inventory and throw them (in DOS2, there are these instant kill mists) or just skip a whole area by magic jumping over stuff. It's so open that sometimes, it just feels messy,

In the Pillars games, there's less of that but the battles are much more dynamic, so there's a tension in combat that's, imo, missing in the newer Larian games.

With all that said, if you're skipping the first Pillars of Eternity, get DOS2. PoE2 is basically a continuation of the first game whereas DOS2 is a new story.

Pillars for the story and lore

Divinity for the tactical combat
