Action Speed -> turn based?
How does action speed translate into the turn based setting? Each turn the order is adjusted based on action speed?

thanks

Yes, every turn your action speed and penalty will change up where you go in order depending on what you and the enemies do.

Things like casting spells with a dumped dex and wearing heavy armour can take 2 or 3 rounds to cast depending on the spell, where a high dex low armour caster would be able to by the end of the round

Spells dont take extra turns, at least not from my experience, you will just be put dead last in the turn order. I have had spell casters with dumped dex and I have never had spells take multiple turns.

It depends on the spell. We've already had this argument on these forums and did tests. Dumped dex and heavy armour will take longer casting spells multiple turns to go off.

Check this out. It was made by a guy who though dex was useless and didn't affect casters, and then he went ahead and did the tests and found out with dumped dex and heavy armour that casting loses you turns

Results: I was wrong!

Dexterity does matter, if pushed to the extremes, and compounded with armor.

I still don't think investing heavily in Dex is worthwhile, but I recognize that dumping Dexterity would be bad for optimization

Okay, so if you go out of your way to push it beyond what you would do normally, you can break it.

So as long as you play normally, you can dump dex and still be perfectly fine.

That was a test with chill fog, which isn't even a long casting spell. It gets worse with longer spells, especially priest spells

I did two separate Skald playthroughs on PotD Turn-based, one Devoted, the other Shifter, dex dumped, never had this problem. Chanter has some really long cast times itself, especially the summons.

So it seems to me that you need to go out of your way to really break the turn limits to make your spells take extra turns.

Is turn based as unbalanced as reviewers say it is?

Dumping dex is all the tests were. If you dump dex (like you're suggesting), then yes I guess you're going out of your way.

It's differently balanced. In real time, dex is the best stat. In turn based, perception is the best stat. Some builds become more powerful, some become weaker.

In general the game is easier on turn based because you don't have any wasted time like you can get in real time, where even a couple seconds of wasted time can change the outcome of the battle.

But on the flip side, the optional mega bosses are way harder on turn based, because they're balanced around kiting them tediously to avoid getting hit.

Playing both, turned based seems way more fun. Every ability gets a fair chance. Are there any that don't work in turn based?
