Recruiting Maia/Pallegina

Will I be unable to recruit Pallegina (was exiled in PoE 1) if I recruit Maia at the Queen's meeting?

No. If pallegina is not exiled, the deadfire company gives you Maia and then the valians give you pallegina at the same time as they both want their "spies" to be with you.

If pallegina is exiled, the valians will suggest pallegina join you as she's in the dock area of the town where the valian headquarters is. Basically the valians give her a second chance by following you, and you can't recruit her until you do that meeting in the palace.

My Pallegina was exiled, can confirm she was in the Vallian Headquarters after the recruit Maia meeting was done, recruited them both, didn't play either xD.

Yeah I recruited her at Vailian HQ. I liked her character in PoE 1, so tryna keep her in my party almost all the time (Aloth and Eder too)

Actually, Pallegina was neither in the palace nor in the HQ or at the dock. Does she appear directly at the HQ, or do I have to do some quests for the Vailian before she offers to join?

I found her at the HQ after the meeting was over with the Queen or a bit further in story progression

You have to do the event at the palace before you can recruit pallegina at the valian headquarters (if she's not at the palace and joins you there)

I did the event at the palace (initial quest by queen) before. I even did more quests for the queen already. No Pallegina can be found.

Did pallegina die in the first game? When you do the event in the palace, the valian guys will explicitly tell you that pallegina can join you if you grab her from the valian headquarters. If they didn't do that (or give pallegina to you right then and there if she's still in good graces for the ducs), then she likely doesn't exist/was killed.

No, Pallegina survived the first game. Seems to be a bug or she'll appear later in the game when I did some more faction quests. But I fear that she will never appear again.
