Priests aren't nearly as good healers as they were in PoE1.
Yeah, I went with Dire Blessing for that level pick, since it looked clearly more useful. Was hoping I was missing somethign about Consecrated ground adn it might be worth getting on a future level, but guess not.
Watchful Presence is nice if you dont really want to focus on healing much(or have another source of healing), as it can keep allies from dying(it is decent sized AoE and the base is 35 health which scales fairly well, but is best used early in the game).
Divine Mark deals decent single target damage and reduces enemy Deflection a lot, making it easier to hit and crit an enemy. Great against high deflection targets with low Will defense.
In general, Priests are more about buffs and debuffs, with some healing and damage.
Xoti as a Contemplative might actually get some decent value out of Consecrated Ground with the right items. I believe there are a few that boosts healing by 10-15% each, so she will end up sustaining the frontline fairly well each round with just 1 spell cast.
That being said, I think it is still better to be proactive and use buffs or debuffs rather than just healing.
Another thing is, I dont really like Xoti as a Contemplative.
As a pure Priest, her Lantern gives her very good buffs to Restoration and Inspiration spells, and she relies on spells for being impactful in the fight, not auto attacks.
As a Monk, she relies on her fists/weapons to deal damage.
A Contemplative deals little damage, because you rely on melee attacks, but also wants to cast spells. If you use her lantern to boost spell potency, she lacks damage in melee and most of her strike potential as a Monk is lost. In addition, the Lanterns +1 Monk ressource on kills is overshadowed by her unique monk class, which grant 3 wounds on kills, especially since getting kills while wielding the lantern is tough and unreliable.
So as a Contemplative, she is used as a frontline support tank, or something like that. Which can work, but is very specialized.
