Also, the difficulty for quests assume you have a full party at your level. If you have any less than a full party then it will obviously be tougher.
Just look at its armour ratings. I believe it's weak to shock, crush and corrode damage, while more resistant to pierce damage. It also has a high base armour for everything else, so unless you got a high penetration, try using shock crush or corrode.
Something to keep in mind: if you have the scaling on, you can get deviations. In general be prepared to fight encounters with up to 4 above your level, if you use scaling. Poko Kohara is also part of the critical path.
Level 5 is a bit low for that area, I think. I think the recommended level is 6, though it will still be hard (on veteran and PotD, at the very least). That being said with good use of tactics and choke points you can win (even on Path of the Damned). I did it at a later 10-11 level with scaling on and actually, I had one of the most contested victories there.
