So no difficulty level for a quest doesn't mean it's at your level?
Hello adventurers,

*Minor spoilers*
Looking at my quest journal, I find it super handy that the quests have a difficulty rating. One of the quests on my list, The Storms of Poko Kohara, had no rating next to it, so I thought that this means it fits my level.

Once at the ruins, especially against the guardian outside, it seems my level 5 team is not up to the challenge yet. It's fine, I'll go level up somewhere else for a bit.

For future reference though, no difficulty level next to a quest does not necessarily mean that it is at your level, correct? Or should I be able to beat the guardian? He scary!

Yes, it means it's at your level or below your level. Unless you're playing on path of the damned (which adds much higher level dudes to any encounter) then you should be able to beat him. The Guardian of poko kahara is nothing special, just a regular mini boss.

Also, the difficulty for quests assume you have a full party at your level. If you have any less than a full party then it will obviously be tougher.

Thanks for the answer. Admittedly I did not try too hard to fight him, figuring I was at the wrong place, and reloaded after a few rounds. I'll got back and give it a try.

Just look at its armour ratings. I believe it's weak to shock, crush and corrode damage, while more resistant to pierce damage. It also has a high base armour for everything else, so unless you got a high penetration, try using shock crush or corrode.

Something to keep in mind: if you have the scaling on, you can get deviations. In general be prepared to fight encounters with up to 4 above your level, if you use scaling. Poko Kohara is also part of the critical path.

Level 5 is a bit low for that area, I think. I think the recommended level is 6, though it will still be hard (on veteran and PotD, at the very least). That being said with good use of tactics and choke points you can win (even on Path of the Damned). I did it at a later 10-11 level with scaling on and actually, I had one of the most contested victories there.
