Is there any point to choosing the Wheel-option in "Depthless Dominion"? (BoW DLC)

Talking about the quest where you can collect the three souls (Ukaizo King, Navixa, Waidwen) to fight Neriscyrlas.
I asked Waidwen to help fight the dragon. Told the other two that I'd take them with me. Now in the actual fight against the dragon, there is only Waidwen to help out.
I'm at lvl 15 on normal difficulty and struggling a lot against Neriscyrlas.

Makes me wonder if picking the "I'll take you to the wheel" option was a waste. Did it reward more XP, or does it become relevant again later in the story, or is picking this option just straight up making things harder for myself with no upside gameplay-wise?

If you take all 3 to the wheel you can defeat the dragon through dialogue without having to fight her
