Black Screen and desktop cursor on startup
Been a few months since I've played. Went to get back into it and the game simply will not start. I've updated radeon drivers, checked local files, disabled steam overlay, adjusted my resolution. Nothing works, the game is basically unplayable at this point. Anyone have any tips on why it is doing this and how to fix it??

I bought the game recently and I have the same problem. I'm debating if i should ask for refund, did you found a way to resolve it ?

After some back and forth with VersusEvil, they were unable to figure it out. I ended up reinstalling the game to my C: drive(most of my steam library is on a secondary D: drive), deleted the "PillarsOfEternityII_Data - Managed - system.configuration.dll" and then opened steam and checked local files and let it reinstall the config file. This let me get into the game and change my graphic settings. Game has worked fine since then.

Thank you for the infos it might come in handy.
As of now my problem seems to be resolved, i just needed to download the free dlcs for the game to works but that was quite strange.

Do you mean, validate game files after deleting that dll?

Edit: Did that, doesnt work. Black Screen at startup, im running out of methods to fix this. And please dont suggest validating or reinstalling or updating drivers.

Sorry yeah, and sorry it didn't work for you. That's all the same answers VE gave me too and I tried all of it. then they stopped replying when they couldn't figure it out.

I was playing this less than 12 hours ago and it was fine. wtf.
Thought my card was dying but everything else is fine, it's just this game.

I have gotten the game to go... but it's lagging horribly. I just tested a bunch of other wayyyyy better graphics games and they're fine. It's just this one that's broken. I don't see that there were any updates so... what gives? I'll try validating and update the post, but I have a funny thought that it isn't going to work.
No, it's not my graphics driver, that's up to date. Everything is up to date.
