Do i need to play PoE 1 before 2?

Hello friends. Is it possible to play POEII and comprehend the word and characters, without having played the first installment? I would like to play the POEII since they add turn-based game play a while ago, but I really cannot throw myself to play the first POE since it is only playable in RTwP format.

Did you play Witcher 3 without playing Witcher 1 and 2? If so then you should be fine. It is that level of continuation.

You don't, but you should at least watch the story, especially from the second game. The Witcher 3 is far more enjoyable when you understand the characters backstories. I feel it's the same with POE, you'll enjoy POE2 far more if you at least know the story behind POE1. POE1 is still worth playing, good game.

Ya, thats why I made the comparison. I can not play W3 because the first one is so bad I can't play (enjoy) it. I love POE1 to death though. It just see the level of continuation between the 2 IPs to be comparable. I personally would not be able to play POE2 without having played POE1 first.

w1 is an awesome game. i knew big things were coming for that crew the fist hour of playing it. how could one not love running around the town and hearing "your mother sucks dwarf c#$#$#" .

the vibe i got when i played 1 was "these cats are funky like the piranha bytes guys. but unlike those folks who are only ever going to appeal to a niche these guys are going to blow up"

I actually was able to power through both Witcher 1 and 2 pretty easy because I was so enganged with the story and characters, and honestly 1's combat isn't that bad you you get used to the sword rhythm game and actually use oils and such. I still haven't beat 3 because it gives me severe open world fatigue.

pillars 1 was pretty good though. I didn't finish it but u don't really need to play it they provide some decent context. definitely worth a playthrough though especially on sale.
