No repercussions to changing race/class from PoE?
I noticed that your character creation options aren't preset, and you can choose whatever you want to start with, even if you were a different race/class/anything in PoE. I switched from wood elf wizard to death godlike cipher just to see if any of my old companions would notice, and yet, waking up with Eder beside me, he acts as if my character had always been that way. I get the reasons for it, player freedom and all that, but it seems more than a bit jarring that not even Berath notices your changes. Is it just oversight on the game's part, or is there something I'm missing?

I can acknowledge why they did it while also questioning the same decision, can't I? It just seems odd to me that in every other aspect your past choices matter, except this one apparently. Even a cursory one-off nod like "when you return, everyone will remember you as you are, not as you were", would have satisfied me enough. Grumble grumble.

Well the Watcher from PoE 1 died and was returned to the wheel (which is the opening scene) so your Watcher is still who he was before but reincarnated.

Much like in the first one where he could remember his past lives he can also be a different personality now, no?

I think in the games universe it makes sense enough.

That all makes sense until the part where it's mentioned by Berath that your original body is in a catatonic state; and that's ostensibly the body you're returning to, the same one you left. So it's less like reincarnation and more like resurrection. That's how Eder treats you too, like you just woke up from a coma and he's been trying to wake you back up for a long time. Maybe your Eder acted differently I guess. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No. But neither is your body truly alive. Your lungs draw breath, your heart pumps blood, but your flesh is as soulless as a Hollowborn. That is, until I return you.

Personality =/= body/gender. The body/gender being different is of course only because of player freedom in character creation.

It's not that hard to choose the same race and gender if you wish to play as the same Watcher from PoE1 so the choice is there which makes arguing about it pretty pointless.

I agree. I wasn't sure for a while if i actually had the import or what the situation was with my character looking different. I'm kind of surprised they didn't offer a sentence of explanation.
