Godlike subrace: any reactivity?
I've just started a PoE1 runthrough with the character I plan to import into Deadfire. He's Godlike Aumaua, originally from Deadfire by background.

Is there any reaction to the racial origin of godlikes, though? Will he be treated as both Godlike AND Aumaua by NPCs, or does the fact that he's on fire pretty much override any consideration of what his parents looked like?

There's definitely reactivity to the godlikes. Several characters, including plot critical ones, will remark upon it and I came upon a few encounters where being godlike helped. It will override being aumaua, though.

Yeah, as far as I can tell being godlike trumps the race you're based on.

You might get some background stuff though. I don't know, my guy came from the Living Lands (? Whichever gives you +1 might) and I haven't seen it mentioned yet.
Can confirm, there are specific in-and-out-of-dialogue options locked to godlike, and even specific types of godlike.

My origin has been mentionned once so far but it feels very minor (I'm not godlike though, elf instead).

Reactions to godlike player character are extremely rare in poe1 and somewhat more common in Deadfire. In short, don’t expect too much in the sense of reactivity.

Take your time with PoE1. Save imports are still bugged. Eder for me is a member of the Night Market when he should be the Mayor of Dyrford.

I enjoyed that Godlike had greater reactivity when playing the game. And you said Fire? I played Death for my first go through Deadfire, and found an entire quest line that was radically altered because I was one of those 'chosen'; lots more options. Probably made things a heck of a lot easier.

I can definitely think of one instance early on where being a Fire Godlike in Deadfire will help you. I assume there are more.

I have heard from a developer update i think it was that reactivity to Godlikes was something that was asked for in PoE1 a lot and addressed in PoE2.

It definitely feels like that.

Yeah, much as I love Obsidian, I also know them well enough to wait on a patch or two before dropping my cash.

I've never played White March before, and I'm also finally doing PotD, so I figure this run should take me through the summer sale.

And it does not matter what you play in part 1 for the import in part 2. This is only to transfer your decisions, not your character.

Wait, what? According to what I've read in the past you can respec your class after an import but have the same race/gender/background.

That info was from a little while before release, though. No longer true?

Nope, not true. Only decisions matter.
To my knowledge; your body type choice with a Godlike (so what conventional species your Godlike character was born to) is entirely cosmetic and nobody comments on it. The conversation trees look at your Race (and sometimes subrace), your class, your background, and where you're from. Godlike body type is purely cosmetic.

Yep. Your imported character can be of a completely different race, background, and class if you want, which leads one to wonder how your old companions can recognize you then...Recognizing the soul maybe?
