Its not as clear cut this time around and most if not all are viable with multiclasses

Stole my question)

I have a Cipher / Ranger with Rifle and Warbow proficiency. I found a unique Bow pretty early one (the one with the three magic missles) and Takehu is singing the faster reload song and all I can tell you is that my char is a beast ;)

Well some ideas would be good... Is dual wield guns good...? Bow...? What?

Try them out and decide for yourself?

whats the point in playing a game, when doing just what other people say and do? play for yourself...just do it. see what happens and be open for surprises. combat is far too easy anyway in POE 2 and every char can learn every weapon.

My Serafen (pure Cipher) holds his own in a fight with double pistols - the focus generation is fast enough that I don't have to worry about it. So yeah - it's viable.

Dual wielding pistols is actually still just shooting with one pistol thanks to reloading - except for a pretty strong alpha strike.

And while you get quite a big bonus to reload time (-30% dual wield, -15% two weapon style), you still get more if you are activating fast reload with a single pistol (-50%) and you get some of your hits converted to crits. Overall i'd say one pistol + one handed weapon style (+fast reload) is more useful than dual wielding in a prolongued fight. And you are actually a bit more flexible in terms of enemy deflection.

Sure you can use fast reload + dual wield pistols ... but you won't hit anything at all.

I use a simple pistol with a sword (dual wielding) for my cypher because it's looks "pirate", It's the only thing that matter. And it work well so ARrrrr !.

Well, since you generate your resource through damage you want to have a steady stream of it. That's why the rule of thumb for cyphers is to dual wield, but it's not required. It's just that a miss from a two hander costs you a lot more than if you dual wield.

Beyond that your main worry is the damage type of a weapon. Sabers are always nice and very strong (and there's a boatload of unique ones) but so many things resist slash (even with the modal). That's why I would recommend secondary in the form of stilettos or pistols or something that does crushing damage.

You get a lot of proficiencies by the end so don't be afraid to experiment.

I like the club because I can apply a will debuff. It also has a +5 to accuracy.

Hunter bow for ranged multiclass with devoted fighter, any other weapon for any other multiclass.

Any accurate onehander for SB subclass. Sword or sabre, preferably duals, for any other melee build.

dual swords because of a couple op weapons in the mid/late game.

Weapon type by itself doesn't do a whole lot. It mostly comes down to the modals if your weapon is average or simply to what unique weapons you come accross. Having proficiency in a weapon is 95% of the time useless in the end, very few situations benefit from having proficiency (some passives and unique effect). If the modal associated to the weapon isn't any useful for you you really have nothing to worry about which weapon to use. I like the Scepter from any ranged damage dealer since its modal gives more damage at the cost of health which is the only modal as far as I know that doesn't affect negatively any impact of the character (such as accuracy or reload time).
