Difficulty kinda lowered when I found the frostseeker for my ranger, weapon is pretty op. but its the nature of the beast right ? get good gear, enchant it, do a good build and go forth
One boss literally destroyed me tho, that piece of ♥♥♥♥ in the old city. adds kept one shotting my melees :d
At the same time, due to the open nature of the game there are no "do or die" encounters like in PoE1, so you can circumvent a lot of danger and gradually become stronger to handle anything without issues.
Now? My Cipher/Rogue sneaks up, charms 1. Dominates another. And then I casually watch as utterly nothing bothers with me as I chill out poking into their minds.
As people have said, if it's not well above you it's not a challenge. And with indicators to show what is/isn't above, the game is rather easy. You can also farm ship battles to silly amounts of XP and loot. Likewise for thieving. I was almost able to buy a Junk class ship before finishing that first city sector.
Sorry if I find that hard to believe for EVERY single encounter unless your party actually consists of 5 self-healing fighters, because some fights (like against the Death Guard in Neketaka,
the Huge Cave Grub, the four Ettins in an encounter on a south-western island, the Druids on Sayuka island, etc.) are very challenging for the level that you encounter them at. Which is especially true if you set the main story aside for a minute and just explore around in search of side quests.
The main storyline, though, doesn't require much effort, so no argument from me there.
INDEED.. IT IS WAAAAAAY TO EASY..
like what the ♥♥♥♥. first time I played POE1 i play on hard and got a challenge on most of the bigger fights..
this time is ROFL stomp every single encounter even dragons in 1 go.. it so easy I am thinking about trashing my 40 hour champaign just so I can play POTD with level scaleing just to have abit of fun in combat
Level scaling option was a red flag that game is barely ballanced in traditional way and it apparent after several fights.
God forgive me for making a rogue+barbarian character. He crits on roll of 50 with a barbarian skill and oblitirates enemies. I had to stop using it to not break game further.
I made a fighter rouge.. who DW saber's, he is also insanely op (I didnt even try to cheese, He is a "copy" of my original, no stealth rouge from POE 1) ..but holy balls he rips everything appart..
Also found a sabre that lowers the armor for everyone by 2 .. herp derp...
After fighting 1 monster that I could not penetrate. I found out penetration is the key to winning.
But they're not lying to you, you can pretty much just keep the thing on auto attack all the way through and the characters do all the work. There's no real strategy involved at all.
PoE 1 you had to be on your toes at all times or you'd get wiped.... Deadfire? well not so much.
I don't even feel like I'm playing the game... its like someone else is running it for me.
The enemy AI isn't always the best, either. I shot a barrel. Barrel got set on fire. Guard walked up to the (explosive) barrel to see what was going on. Cleaning lady had a bad day. Hahahaha.
