Manually pause constantly while sneaking and in combat
yes - when combat starts
yes - i have most of my AI on auto attack only, so i usually pause to sequence repositioning in between actions and cast abilities (about every 2sec or so)
I have auto-pause on when combart starts.
I do manually rather frequently pause in combat to use skills and reassess thing.
Dont pause myself (very rarely, for example if new enemies spawn, or something happens like mind control on character member.), cause slow combat speed and pausing after ability used kinda takes care of everything.
- Hard
- Auto-pause on enemy spotted, enemy killed, traps and ability used
- I pause frequently manually
Auto-pause is on for start of combat and trap or object found. I pause occasionally in combat to override the AI.
edit: AI off. I don't trust it.
Relaxed: no
Classic: no
Veteran: yes
Path of the Hells Yeah: Yes
Pause settings are the same for hard and potd: enemy spotted (with stop party from moving), traps found (stop party movement), hidden object found, toon died, toons weapon has done nothing, combat started (stop party movement), low health. I also pause throughout the fights to micro the team.
Hi All,
Kinda new here and just looking for some helpful tips, particularly in combat. And apologies if I embarrass myself with maybe a dumb question, but I’m seeing this repeated by a lot of you guys here about the pause on ability used. I hadn’t thought of that and it seems like a good idea. So just to make sure I’m understanding the usefulness of this, is this so that I’ll be able to know right away when, say, a spell has finished casting so that I can immediately cast the next one without wasting time being idle? If someone could help out and clarify this for me I would really appreciate it, and any other quick tips. Thanks!
So far I’ve noticed that everyone uses some kind of autopause.
Pause on 'ennemy sighted' . I auto-pause when someone is badly injured . The AI is pretty good in this game .
Thank you! I appreciate the tip :)
yes, it is exactly that. Game pauses after spell/ability is totally completed, so you can start another one, 0 time lost.
- When walking around, you can often come across enemies that are unaware that you are there, and/or enemies you didn't see. By having the game pause when you spot an enemy, it makes it easy to judge the situation. Do you want to rush in and attack? Is sneaking around a better option? Are there more enemies around you don't know about? Stuff like that. Charging in head first is rarely the best option.
- Pausing when spotting a trap is very nice. Not only will you be much safer, but if you disarm the trap, you will get to keep it AND get XP for disarming it. Much better than to leave it there, and accidentally step on it in combat.
- Some spells take a long time to cast, so it can be very useful to get a reminder when the spellcsater needs something else to do. You can get the AI to cast spells on their own, but it might be better to micromanage the spells a bit, and pick spells you think are more useful. I use a combination of AI and micromanaging, though. My warlock casts her spells on her own, but I do tend to change her spells when needed.
There are a lot of other uses for auto-pause, so look around and see what you prefer. If you're new to these types of games, more auto-pausing might be a good idea, and it's easy enough to switch them off as you go along and get better.
