[SPOILERS] are all of romanceable companions bisexuals?
well played, biowarObsidian

minorities must be presented as minorities. 1 or 2 bi or gay companion (like it was in new vegas) is absolutely ok, but ALL of them? it feels like another bait for social justice crusaders and unique snowflakes who plays rpg for escape from this cruel world (and obviously for chance to bang with fishboys or catlike midgets)

post from josh sawyer's tumblr-blog:

Q: Before Deadfire's release, you said that every companion's romantic interests and sexuality would be decided individually as these preferences are part of character definition. What made you change your mind?

A: I didn’t change my mind. The companions’ sexual preferences were decided by individual writers for their individual characters. If you want to know why a writer developed their companion in a certain way, that’s a question for them.

what a miserable lie

this mandatory bi- or pan- or whatever-sexuality (brutally forced by permanently offended sjw) totally ruins characters composition and makes them un-individual. strictly gay characters are much better than this stupid attempts to please everyone (everyone of the minor but far more vocal percentage of society, of course)

and this is why i hate romances in crpg (i hope at least eder isn't romanceable). poe2 can be only better wihout it. can you imagine romance with stoic or grieving mother from poe1? wait... these two were created by chris avellone, who is a professional and high-profile gamedesigner, not by former fan-fiction writers. and who, as far as i know, hates romances too

romance is probably .1% of the actual game. Bixesual characters make for better writing anyway you dip.

They dont make for better writing. Only easier writing. Instead of writing romance for specific gender and/or race with their own quirk. They can lazily slap a single romance plot on everything and call it a day.
Well,...um actually that's a good point. Carry on.

Obsidian said they wouldn't do romance if they couldn't do it right. (Pillars 1)

Now they just add nudity to make nerds feel cool and, seperately, make being straight a minority thing.

The same people yelling about tolerance are anything but tolerant.

I don't care about the romance, but it's another case of let's promote the lifestyle and issues we agree are relevant as developers and paint the world accordingly. Let's cater to the hate on straight people, religion and anything else not taught in liberal academia.

I feel so modern, mature and cool playing this game.

Of course, now gamers are more and more accepting of SJW sexual crap so they shoved it in their games like no tomorrow.

Support indie devs and let Big devs like obsidian milk the soylent drinking beta bois and the tumblrinas

Nothing is being shoved at all. If you can't evolve like the world is then it's no ones problem but your own.
Oh no, the world is becoming a more accepting world to be in, what horrors!

Much like the OP you need to grow up :)
The world is more accepting, now let me tell you why your opinions are unacceptable.
One thing annoying is every 20 mins or so I get someone coming below deck of my ship asking if they want to have sex. I'm like stfu let me sail my ship and play the game. Constant harassment from my crew, I'm thinking of killing them all and living on an island by myself.

Your party isn't representative of Eora's population, though. You're a group of unusual people from unusual backgrounds. Even Eder (who shuts down your romance attempts anyways) isn't totally the "average farmer boy", especially now.

Anyways, I would have preferred it if they went the DAI route instead of DA2, some characters gay, some straight, some bi. But romance is such a small and optional thing in this game and always has been in Obsidian games so I'n not especially bothered by it.
Correct decision. This is a roleplaying game, and some people want to play characters based on themselves.

The option should be available to them based on their real life sexual orientation, whatever it may be.

There is no "hate" on straight people, as you can have heterosexual relationships in the game too. There are only options.

Some of you sure seem to love making mountains out of molehills.

One of my ship events was the old dude that was part of your original crew from start of the game came in to my cabin to "talk" had the text option to tell him to "get his wrinkly old ass out" or something like that...didn't like being hit on by a game character but was glad i had this as an option.

TBH though i dislike games that push a romance/sexual encounter on you, a lot of times i'm just enjoying the immersion of the fantasy world and while i'm thinking about the next step in a quest a character hits you up with a romance topic and just kills the mood.
I dont mind romance being in the game but it should be clear and pursued by the player not auto instigated by npc's

Everyone is able to make the choice that is suited to them. If you're homophobic, then you are abl to remove the companions and play alone.

Yes but based on real life not everyone is bisexual like it seems in this game. You either set a sign outside your ship advertising "bisexuals only" or the world population in PoE2 100% consists of bisexuals.

Or, get this: sometimes non-straight people seek out and make friends with other non-straight people, and form whole friend groups of non-straight people (maybe with a token straight friend or two). Wild, I know, right?

But all the people are random people from different backgrounds. It's not a question about only seeking out bisexual people since there are so many. It's not just the companions that are bisexual the 30+ crew members you can higher from inns are bisexual too. Heck even some of the quest givers pull a move on you too. Sometimes you sail long enough and one of them knocks on your door below deck and asks to have sex. The Hugh concentration of bisexuals is a little unbelievable which leads me to believe maybe that whole planet is bisexual.

Regardless, Obisidian has to provide the option with every character to cater to homosexual/bisexual clients.

Also consider heterosexual players that play the opposite sex in the game. For example, a male player who plays with a female character (for whatever reason). Perhaps he will not want to have a relationship with a male character in game (just like real life) so will want his character to be a lesbian.

In order to cover all possiblities for their clients, obsidian has to provide ALL the options. It is a practical necessity.

If you don't wish to pusue a relationship with a character in game, you can turn them down. Just like in real life.

It's not just the main characters, it's also the 30+ crew members who you can recruit. All bisexual. There are events during sailing where they will knock on your door below deck and ask to have sex. I genuinely think that whole planet is bisexual.

I've literally never had that, I doubt it.

Dude, pirates were SUPER gay, for the same reason the navy was super gay. Gonna go spend months away from mainstream civilization in the company of other men in cramped quarters? That kind of job description attracts a certain kind of applicant. Are you an outcast or pariah from your society or family? Pirates don't care!

You're missing the point. The option must be there for any clients that ARE homosexual.

It is just practical necessity to cover all the desires of their clients.

This is probably why they didn't do it in the first game. Some people would become disgruntled for no real reason over a tiny feature has no effect on gameplay.
