The death warden didnt have the stones for me i think its a bug, i had to use ranged weapons to destroy the death pillars, but make sure you have bash or slash dame as piercing doesnt seem to do any damage to the pillars.

How did you destroy the pillars? The spells and weapons I have tried dont work.

I used an empowered delayed fireball. Spanked them in one hit without taking damage. Hopefully your Aloth is up a few levels by now.
