This! It comes with a downside though. It gets really tough to choose between good looking clothing and boring mail armor on a character that definitely can use the extra armor.
I've started the game a few times now to test out different classes, each time as a melee character. I grab that swarthy clothing from the locked chest in the beach cave, and wear that over the starting mail. Fortunately it doesn't make a huge difference at the start, and I can hold out until I off some pirate lord guy for his good looking magical leather armor. What's a few wounds next to a world of fashion? Scars are basically just fashion accessories anyway.
Legendary Bracelets of Speedy Fiery Destruction.
If you like heavy armor, Deltro's Cage and the Blackened Plate armor look great (although the plate isn't rigid when the character moves). Unfortunately, with a 55% recovery penalty, only an Armored Grace Fighter would want to wear it.
