Plague ship?

So i dealt with a ship that had alot of sick people on board and after that the game told me that my crew/ship now carries the sickness, but otherwise nothing seems to happen, the status of the crew and companions is still fine and i don't have a journal note about it or anything.
Maybe a bug or is it something that will come into play later?

Just got to this myself, but reloaded when it became clear that my PC is an idiot and didn't have their crew checked on /their/ ship, from a distance. Until that's fixed, not touching it.

You get an event a few days later that costs some morale and medicine.

Yeah, I got it pretty soon after doing the plague ship. Its pretty easy to get around if you have plenty of medicine

I usually just cannon down plague ships....Just to avoid risks

Plague ship 1: Not a deadly plague they say. Picked send your sickest guy n well check it option. Get an event sometime later that my crew is sick, used medicine, all good.

Plague ship 2: People have died they say. Picked send your sickest guy n well check it option. Crew asks if Ive gone insane. Still I go on with it. Its been a while and nothing else triggered.

How do you help the people on the plague ship? I have medecine and I have a surgeon but I only have the option to attack or say that I don't have the resources to help.

It seems this encounter is bugged if you chose not to accept the gift they offer as thanks. The encounter just ends when you tell them to keep it. Out of curiosity, I reloaded and accepted the gift, then the encounter continued and I healed the sailors, lost 10 medicine and my crew gained experience and caught the plague.
