im liking mine so far, im kinda wishing i multiclassed it with a cipher or a melee class though for synergy purposes.

if you mix with paladin its much better imo the druid claws dont count as unarmed anymore so just try to get another class with good full attack abilities.

Rogue was also a good choice but the dps and survivability of paladin is sick.

Also druids were insane in the first one just had to build them right and use the storm spells before shifting.

Have no intention of multi classing my first play through since I have no idea what I am doing lol. With that in mind would shifting druid still be a solid choice or should I try something else?

She. The great thing about shifters is they're still great spell casters when they're not shifted.

Shifting druid is completely fine. Every class is a good choice. The game is not that hard and even if it was there's 4 companions with you to plug those holes in your build.

A fun and effective multiclass for shifter druid is stalker ranger. You get a pet that deals solid damage and engages an enemy or two (bear is good for that so you dont have to worry so much about it dying) and you get the deflection and armor rating bonus when you are within 4m (which you should always be). And to top it off it goes well together theme wise and both being bear friends kicking arse is just wonderful. :)

The only reason i didnt do a shifter druid is because i enjoy upgrading my gear and shifter druids for the most part have little use from it in shift form. So i made a fury druid instead. But to be honest i kind of wish i had stuck with druid ranger because i played a caster only druid in poe1 and i'm craving for something new.

As far as multiclassing its pretty much just a trade off between having the highest rank abilities (rank 8 and 9) and having higher level abilities sooner (single class) and having more passives to pick from, more abilities to use per encounter and potentially more class bonuses (multiclass). Other than that its really not all that complicated.

other than wizard (who gets a Grimoire if he's single class) I don't think there is much point in single class characters unless you know for certain that you want the 8th nd 9th level powers. Certain classes just work so well together, a constantly renewiing resource class like monk, chanter and cipher make for great multiclass options with any class. If you go shifter Druid and you plan on shifting a lot there is almost no reason to not have fighter as your secondary class, maybe take Corpse Eater Barbarian for flavor if not fighter.

Shifting is cute and all, but not needed. What made the druid so good in PoE 1 were his spells, and he still got them I suppose (the damn raw damage AEs for example).

For a regular druid shifting is cute as above said, but Shifter makes shifting more than cute...multiclass it with Fighter and its super beast. Unlike PoE1 you can multiclass to make it shine, your shift has its own armor, benefits from two weapon passive, and can benefit A LOT from multiclass (fighter - constant heal, stances, accuracy and all that madness) (barbarian for frenzied carnage insanity) (monk for fast attacks and lighting strikes)....I feel like if you want to play druid as mostly a caster and shift sometimes, pick no subclass or specialize Fury for Range dmg, Lifegiver for support and heals...if you want to be a Shifter you gotta multiclass it to take it to the next level.

Like I said I never played the game before and not trying to multiclass when I don't know what I am doing. But I think I get the jist of what you guys are trying to say lol. Think I will go monk instead, thanks all.

Yeah, Shifter definitely feels like its best with a multiclass to give it something to do while shifted, since you can't cast spells while doing so. Been doing well with Druid (Shifter)/Monk multiclass so far, focusing mostly on a few key buffing and healing spells before going in with fists or claws swinging.

You don't have to multiclass to have a solid character, don't you worry. Pick a class that seems interesting to you and you WILL have more fun than going with something else.

Druid is still insane but shifting got a massive nerf. Skills like the lighting bonus on attack/on getting hit was nerfed to have a cast time and the calculation for bonus damage doesn't just stack twice anymore.

Is it still good? Yes because Cat form still has really has DPS but unless you run into some ridiculous haelth sponge, empower sunlance with crit and high pen/armor reduction will easily deal 200-300 damage to it and you can spam hail storm to clear a group.

I’ve seen people running barbarian/shifter saying it’s crazy on reddit...frenzy + cat shift sounds like a good time.

Avoid attack spell with a shifter. But a single class shifter is mighty. Try the spell of storm (8 level, i don't remember the name), for every hit, a lightning bolt will hit your foe. With the cat special attack, it's deadly.
Focus on healing/defense spell too, druid has some great spell like this (one who can level up your defenses while it heals you during several seconds).

It's like alchemy in the witcher. You have to prepare your druid with spell before he goes into battle.
