It's a weird mixed bag.
The actual VA talent they have onboard are all professionals and have more credits to their names then you could imagine, but yeah some of the direction and pacing here is just awful.

Ashley Johnson for instance is normally amazing in whatever she's in, her performance *made* The Last of Us and is an accomplished onscreen performer in TV/Movies - however as the narrator here she is terrible. She's so slow and has weird pauses all over the place which makes it a pain to sit through and awkward to try and ignore to read ahead.
I actually went to the game folder and removed the narrator folder so that she doesn't talk in those sequences.

Just goes to show that good voice acting is just as much about the direction as the actual talen of the actors, I've played many games where the voice actors are complete nobodies with little or no prior experience, yet due to direction the voiceover is really good. Take for example Jagged Alliance 2, every single mercenary has unique voice acting with plenty of lines, but the actors were nobodies, and yet the game is known to this day for decent voiceover.

It is a small company and has less money and contracts than a multi billion dollar company like UBISOFT or EA or ACTIVISION. With that being said, I much rather have this voice acting (average) than NO VOICE ACTING.

Or half a scene voice acted and the other half not like FF 14 online :S

I always wondered if it's really that hard to find good lesser known talent that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. There's got to be something between ♥♥♥♥ and AAA voice actors who charge out the nose.

Nah the voice work is great imo

I think that the voice acting fits the characters and setting very well.

Especially considering the voice actors are speaking , in part , a fictional language

I mean, I loved Minsc and Boo. Maybe they need that guy to come back (although based on his more recent work) he'd probably be a lot of dough to get.

Voice acting is good, dont see any problems with it whatsoever.

I find it unsettling to hear Texas accents being used by my characters. The Preistess, for example. Oh well. Still enjoying it very much.

I am so confused by people hating her narration. I am quite impressed by it. I think it may be more of a stylistic issue rather than being "bad" or "good."

I have also shown it to random people who do not play the game, none of them thought it sounded weird or bad at all.

Those "pauses" you talk about are from commas. You know, it's a thing called punctuation. And the slowness is to add ambience.. would you rather she talk like a robot?
