Is there a "wrong" build or worthless skills?
This game is SO stat heavy, that I don't feel like researching for hours and hours on a build. I know in the first game, stealth was worthless. Is the game more balanced this time that you can pick something that appeals to your sense of play without critically affecting your ability to play the game effectively?

Thanks.

Short answer: Yes

Long answer: You can also "optimize" for terrible performance, but since that's not something most of us do, I don't think you'll find too many examples of bad builds. Even if they are found, fewer still would share them.

As for worthless skills, there are plenty, but those are more "niche". There is a build (team + character) for which it is useful, though for most might be completely useless. I know playing, there were something that made me scratch my head and think "why? Just. . .why?" but I'm sure had I stopped and bothered to answer the question I would have found an answer like "well with this party, and this character build. . ."

Unless you are playing on the highest difficulty (Path of the Damned) it's nearly impossible to create a character that is not viable. And if you pick the wrong skills, you can reskill your character in any Tavern.

I second this.

I won't make light of someone's desire to avoid making mistakes when building their characters, no matter how easy the game is, but it is true that you do not need to concern yourself with failure. Worst case scenario, you turn down the difficulty.

like using the two handed style, dual handed and one handed style

that is 2 lvls wasted on things you aren't going to use or picking various verses for the chanter.....

Most of the times, I create a character, play a few hours, get a feel for the game then create my "real" character. I imagine I will do that again.

I do something like that too, except I do it again and again and again until I have to stop myself and say "Damnit! Just pick one!"

It is more the combinations of perks and etc if i find one that i really like but later i get screwed like my sorceror without charisma who would guess that to use your powers they have to like you... i find the perks of poe 2 kinda crappy and i really hate the weapon specialization you should only be able to pick it on char creation after that a element of magic or fighting school and etc...

Assuming you're playing on normal difficulties then no. You can't really screw yourself up. Pick whatever suits your fancy and your companions can cover your weak spots. No need to stress yourself out at all.

Don't be afraid to try things out. Especially where skills and other level up choices are concerned. You can easilly respec at any tavern if for some reason you aren't happy with your choices or just want to optimize your build.

Since you said you "hate" researching for hours, I assume you also wont be playing the highest difficulty.

short answer... yes you can make a bad build.

at the same time.. unless you play path of the damned, you wont have an issue completing the game.

BUT WHO CARES: play the class fantasy you like the most, and enjoy the game

Well if you play on normal only the superbosses are a real challenge and a little of the Forgotten Sanctum
