Rogue Debonaire / Ranger Sharpshooter Multiclass
Please help me with my main character build.

My planned playstyle
================
1) Fight from distance
2) Find way to defend against or avoid melee enemies
3) Don't care about deflection (assuming enemies are too busy with my tanks)
4) Do as much damage as possible from the backline
5) Will automate fight as much as possible with Behaviour AI Editor (for all party members)
6) Playing on Classic difficulty where enemies will ONLY upscale to my level
7) Will use this character for pickpocket, traps detect and disarm, lock picking

My planned main character
=====================
1) Hearth Orlan multiclass Rogue Debonaire / Ranger Sharpshooter
2) Taking advantage of Hit to crits and rogue extra damage through sneak afflictions to enemies
3) Two weapon style duel wield pistols (weapon set 1)
4) Dagger and shield (weapon set 2) only when being attacked by melee. Will take advantage of dagger modal +10 deflection.
5) Max Dex and Per and average (i.e. 10) everything else

Comments
========
Main character will attack as much as possible from distance and avoid melee encounters. When being attacked by melee, I will use Rogue Charm to charm melee attacker. Will also use rogue escape ability to avoid melee attackers. Not sure how well hit to crit will stacks with passives and equipments, etc.

What do you think of my main character build? Any recommendation for improvements? Any specific stats allocation recommendation? Any changes to achieve my planned playstyle?

What pet should I use? I was thinking about something tanky to keep melee enemies away from me or at least something that is good at helping me remove the threat of melee enemy ASAP.

Thanks in advanced.

Really doesn't matter for the pet, you have plenty of rogue abilities to get away, on top of a tank in your group.

Looks okay. I would drop Debonnaire and just use the normal rogue without subclass.

Rogue and Ranger both get an "instant teleport" type of ability, Rangers also gives +5dex on use. You should never have to worry about getting into melee with anyone.

I would still recommend using 2H because the 2 best ranged weapons in the game are..
Arquebus (Red Hand is the best weapon in the game BY FAR)
Hunting Bow (Essence Interrupter - this is better on casters/multi casters for various reason, only useable after you enchanted it so it doesnt spawn enemies on kill imo)

As Ranger/Rogue you are destined to use the Red Hand. Its easily the best combination for top ranged dps. There is a rogue ability that gives bonus damage based on % of missing health. This is what you want to use all your rogue resources on once you get it (especially with the additional bonus damage upgrade).
Bouncing shots is what you want to get from ranger. ^These 2 work together so you can hit 2 people with your op rogue ability.

Your second weaponset to complement the arquebus should be another ranged weapon that is able to use a "different damage type". Arquebus only does "pierce" damage and a bunch of enemies in the game are immune to piercing damage (specifically skeletons). One example for such a weapon are Rods that should hit crushing if i remember correctly.

On a completely different note:
There is also an excellent Rogue/Ranger companion (Maia) who has a special pet that is arguably better than any pet a player character can get and gets a unique ranger subclass.
This is in my opinion the best "specced" companion in the game. All The other companions have at least some very questionable stat distribution. Maia is the only character that gets at least close to having optimal stats.
You could technically use 2 rogue/rangers but with a 5 party max having douplicates is kinda lame and while there are other really good arquebus(es?) nothing else in the game is quite as op as the Red Hand.

1) OK, no need for dagger and shield (wp set 2)

2) How far into the game before I can access Red Hand though? So the OPness of the Red Hand outweight the reduction to recovery time of pistols due to duel wielding?

3) The 2handed Rod does slash and piecing damage. 1handed Scepter does crush and slash damage. So, make more sense to use sceptor instead. Perhaps, duel wield sceptors for recovery time reduction?

4) So they changed Max party members from 6 (in poe1) to 5 (in poe2)...hmm :-(

What do you think of duel wield sceptors and take advantage of the modal to increase damage and change multiclass to rogue / fighter instead? Fighter to take advantage of constant recovery due to constant self hurt from the sceptor modal.

Is it possible to learn both 2handed style as well as 2 weapon style?

OK, I have checked Wiki and it does not appear to be difficult to get my hand on the Red Hand Arquebus provided I can afford it early on. Going to Neketaka city is quite early into the game. Buying the Red Hand from Ernezzo in Neketaka should be managable early on...errh, I think :-)

Have finalised my build as Rogue (no subclass) / Ranger (Ghost Heart). Just finished killing everything in Fort Deadlight. My main character is doing very well being top in the crits and damage done record so far.

Decided against Sharpshooter ranger subclass as the -10 deflection penalty is just not worth the 15% hits to crits. Ghost Heart works wonderfully without the worry of Bond Grief penalty.

So far have been using starting Arquebus and duel most basic scepters. Learned both 2H style and 2 weapon style. So far all my fights are controlled by personal customised behaviour AI. The fights are still quite easy at this stage as I have not even optimise the AI script.
