Are the godlike worth it?
So I really like the god like. Both their appearance but how they are basically the tiefling of PoE. But they get normal bonuses like EVERY other race, BUT they lose a head gear slot. Which wouldn't be so much of a problem if just I could use torcs. You see, I really like being able to gain that +1 or +2 int for my wizard so.... I was hoping someone could tell me why they're worth it.

Not to hate on anyone who likes them. Hell I do too. But loosing an entire item slot... Erhhhh. I might meta game that a bit.

I wouldn't bother meta-gaming. If you want to play a God-like, I say go for it. If not being able to wear a head item really torcs you however, then don't.

Which sounds more fun:

1. Playing the game with a character that is different and that you like.

2. Playing the game with a character that was optimized around stats.

You said yourself that you like them, that not enough reason?

Some people don't like feeling like they are gimping themselves by choosing RP over practicality. I'm one of them. Its not a matter of fearing that I'll suck, its a feeling of being cheated. So I completely understand where the OP is coming from. So the dichotomy you present isn't fair.

it is fair , have the character you want or have some small bonus that basically doesnt matter. I understand being anal or OCD about something but at the end of the day its his own 'psychosis' :) , no one else can decide for him what he prefers.

is a good helmet better than the benefit there bonus gives.... yes

does it make any noticable difference .... no

min/max to the max or pick your favourite race , the choice is yours :) . My OCD is the opposite, i couldnt play with another race than the one i wanted as it would annoy me everytime i thought about it :)

Depends on your build.

Whenever I roll a singleclass barb or multiclass barb/whatever, nature godlike is the way to go (since the character will be enraged almost 100% of the time, those extra power levels granted by nature godlike's passive make a difference in the long run).

In terms of plot/dialogue, death godlike has a lot of extra dialogue (that's expected, considering that the PC is Berrath's servant).

Wait. So the godlikes have different dialouges depending on which one? I didn't know! I never played a godlike more than once, and the character was a complete and utter failure! xD
Death godlikes get their bonus when near death if I remember correctly, and it never appiled to me, the thought of needing to be on the edge with minimal hp left to gain some benefit that I at the moment can't really remember xD. I might actully go for the death godlikes, or just the nature ones. I really wanna use the staff of woodly power or whatever it's called. The standard model for concuhalt's parasitic staff. Huh. Man, I just finished the game like 10 minutes ago and well, extra dialouge. Sounds like a gift at this point. But mabye the near death thingy is going to help me in my next play through (if I can survive the gods endless babring. The only one I like is Berath. The others can go ♥♥♥♥ their own ♥♥♥♥ for all I care). I'm hoping I can be less of a wuss and play on a higher diff. It's pretty easy to do it I guess as I play on the one above story mode. Soooooo.... yeah... Well thanks for the help! ^^ Really needed it! ^^

Weeeeell. I guess. I just don't wanna (like the other guy said) feel cheated or inferoir (sorry I miss spelled it, don't wanna google it at the moment). For the record, don't have OCD per say. Got something similar, but that's beside the point. And I wanna get some good stats. You know, high might, fair con, always a good spellcasting amplifier. Man it's so harder to make a spellcaster in PoE than in D&D sometimes! XD

there is some good head gears... so i say not worth it.

Moon Godlikes have a fun time in Neketaka in particular since that is Ondra/Ngati based.

There is no head-piece that is so powerful that it outweighs or deminishes the kinds of synchronism that can be achieved through racial buffs.

That is, take for example the nature god-like, who recieves bonuses whenever they are buffed for pretty much anything, those bonuses stack with the buff itself and those buffed-stacks can greatly enhance whatever skill/abillity you are choosing.

Ultimatley, if you're looking at it from a persepctive of being 'cheated' (somehow) then I do not believe you need to worry. Is it possible that some helmet drops and you're bummed for not being able to equip it? Sure.

As an example build that can dominate the game utilizing a godlike character:

shattered pillar and no subclass wizard in the same sentence as godlike. *facepalm* what difficulty do you play on? haha. you probably think nerd commando builds are good too?

there is one helmet on the top of my memory that gives a stupid strong buff. Immunity to interruptions is pretty damn strong. As for the rest of the helmets, I can't remember any other notable one's
Dyer1981 Jan 4, 2019 @ 6:54am
I have no idea what 'nerd commando builds' are... the OP didn't mention anything about playing on the hardest difficulty... so, you know, no idea wtf your point is.

Okay maybe I should've mentioned a few things.

-I'm playing at the regular difficulty. Yeah yeah, noob. Whatever.
-I like to have good stats, and therefore giving up a head slot for a bonus that is (mostly) focused towards 1 class, I find it a liiitle difficult to see why they are worth it.
-When I say "worth" I mean, do the bonuses they get come into play often, and are they useful when they do. Because -10% damage when at or under 25% hp is not worth it in my opinion. And I still want to be viable in combat. ^^

I hope that cleared up some things! ^^

If you're playing on regular difficulty then don't worry about it. Just play what you want and have fun. If you don't want to risk not being able to put on a helmet then pick a race that doesn't have that issue.

I just started my 2nd playthrough (did one on realease and then waited for all the dlcs to come out for a 2nd) with a nature godlike as an ancient druid and I'm already happy I did just from the additions to the dialogue from being a godlike. I just got to Neketakka and I've had seen the the godlike tag in conversations no less than 6 or 7 times which has been awesome/refreshing.
