Did they eventually patch in a way to get more sapphires?
I don't *need* more sapphires for my main party, but as I start the DLC, I realize that I want to try some other characters, and Vatnir could really use the weapon to increase his frost power levels, but you need Sapphires to upgrade them. His Armor also needs Sapphires. I have 1 left from all of the questing I've done - I'm sure I've already used 4 or 5 from enchanting stuff already. Since I'm level 20, I doubt there's sapphires I misssed (I've read lists online to confirm my amounts as well).

There is a way to get more Emeralds - you can refresh the Treasure Trove shop in Dunnage. Even that takes awhile, as it only appears seldomly. I've seen no Sapphires pop up this way though.

Adra Ban is also another rare one - I have 4 left, which means I got one more enchantment I could realistically do.

Why do they do this? It's not the player has any idea how rare they are until they get quite a bit of experience with the enchanting system. It honestly kind of sucks that it's not infinite, given how infinite everything else is. And if they really want you to choose, having a global count of sapphires to let you know/plan would have been quite helpful....

How do you refresh the shop?

I can literally enchant two items to legendary, because everything needs "Adra Ban" and there are like 7 in the entire game. It's just stupid and renders the entire enchanting system useless...

Every big boss (like the fire dragon) drop items that you can enchant legendary things with, with only that 1 ingredient.

So in a play through you should be able to enchant like 6 items just off those, not including the adra ban route of legendary items.

The adra ban is an almost unlimited resource (though random). I've got like 16 of them currently. That's the cheap way of enchanting legendary (cheap as in they aren't 1 of a kind items like the boss drops)

As for sapphires, those are also random drops. I got 9 of them right now, but I suspect it's different for everyone.

Did it occur to you that not everyone wants to kill all the dragons? I play this game for story, not for meaningless items. Most of the bosses do not drop Adra Bans.

Yeah which is ridiculous in a game where you constantly find new items. This drastic limitation of resources forces you to wait until the very end of the game when it doesn't matter anymore. Maybe only if you want to waste your lifetime with those pointless megabosses.

You really think that "16" in the game equals "unlimited"? What? Just one weapon needs 4 of them...

I only got more than 7 now that I played The Forgotten Sanctum which contained 5 or so more. Even a few Sapphires I think.

Unlimited, as in theoretically unlimited because they are random drops. I now have over 30 of them in this play through, and I got 4 boss items that make legendary weapons.

And you're complaining about making legendary weapons, the strongest thing in the game, and the final tier after fine, exceptional and superb too late into the game? They're legendary, stands to reason you wouldn't be able to upgrade every piece of gear to legendary

Besides, many best-in-slot items are legendary out of the box, so you don't need to upgrade them (such as Stalker's Patience and Devil of Caroc armor)
