Best passive and active kills as a wizard
Hi guys,

I just started playing PoE2 as a wizard and I find myself a bit in confusion of which passive and active skills I should put my points in.

as a wizard I start out with (active): 2 arcana, 2 explosives, 1 mechanics, 1 alchemy.
and (passive): 2 history, 2 insight, 2 metaphysics and 1 survival

I just leveled and I put my first point into arcana and insight, but I would like to know which directions are best for my class.

Also. Im a sort of kind warrior of justice in this play. So I dont really frighting people unless it is needed

Skills have no impact on your class abilities.

Still leaves my questions unanswered. What should I invest in as a wizard.

Also. Im a bit further out in the game and Eder (fighter) leveled up.
regarding his abilities. I start out with knockdown. but is there a list or important to have abilitities that anyone can name, or can refer to?

Whatever blind spot your party has. spreading out like that does little good.

Ok. Then the last question. Which weapon type should I use for the wizard. Im getting some confusion when reading about wands/scepters/rods and then all of a sudden wizard wielding guns and so on. Do I get benefit of using a wand/scepter/rod being a wizard or not?

Use whatever suits your character. Theres no benefits in useing wands over greatswords other than the distance that many casters might enjoy for safety.

As far as skills go, none of them are class specific, it all depends upon how you want to build your watcher and develop you companions.

I try to avoid conflict and talk my way out of combat also, and skill checks can be really helpful when trying to acheive that. Some checks are for the watcher only, others are measured against the totals of any skill for your entire party.

All party members should have at least 1 or 2 (or more) points in Survival & Stealth. Moreso for Survival, as there are a lot of non-conversation type checks that involve survival. And someone should have a high mechanics skill for trap removal.

I've found that Insight, Religion, History, & Metaphysics came up a lot as skill checks during conversations.

As far as weapons for a pure wizard, it again depends upon how you play him. I use Aloth, and my approach is pretty much old school in that he's in the back, sometimes middle, or flanked to a side. Main weapons were wands/septres so he could attack from a distance. If you choose a combat type (1 handed, 2 handed, ect), remember that wands/septres are one handed, while rods are 2 handed.
