Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire

EDIT: 2.0 Update to POTD ALMOST Ruins the Entire Mode
I've attempted various builds with the new NG+ features (Level Scaling, Berath's Wrath, and Normal) and with ALL Berath's Blessings; it's impossible to get through the Digtsite. Even going into the Digsite with a Level 5 party is not feasible without relying on luck and abusing many potions as every enemy now seems like a sponge. It seems like the developers have increased the enemy pools and their aggro ranges, or they have raised every enemy by 2 or 3 skulls (not sure what that translates to in-game).

Before the update, I have made three characters of various builds able to get to Neshetaka by Level 10 without any significant trouble, so by comparison I know how demanding the mode used to be and now what it is like. I understand this mode is meant for extremists as I finished PotD for PoE1, yet here it is absolutely broken due to the lack of XP to make it a fair challenge. Worst update by far.

EDIT: With Berath's Challenge, you really have to exploit siphoning off enemy mobs one-by-one underneath the basement in order to stand a chance, and even then your spells and abilities will not recharge no matter how far away you you leave them unaware. So the mode is not impossible; it's improbable and poorly designed without making enough changes to the original framework for main quest to get off the first island.

in poe1 if you have a party most mobs will not be stopped by the tank since they target that low armor deflection so everyone has to be able to at least stand by itself when engaged.
I've not built real "tanks" in PoE 1, but have applied the Offense is the better Defense strategy with my parties. Which included offensive fighters with reduced CON/RES.

In PoE 2, so far I've not used split-pulling tactics [yet] or cheese like entering Gorecci Street from the south.

Talk to me about not split-pulling after your level three party faces a drake, two wurms, and some panthers. ;-)

I get it though. Some (probably wiser) ppl would come back later bc they don't want to cheese. I was gonna get Aloth and get my boat fixed.

I love the new difficulty, the dig site was very hard, i have to use strategy, potions, drugs, bombs etc etc ( im not use Berath's Blessings ) This was the game I had been waiting for since May. (playing in POTD)

Ok. What about after that. What about the other encounters/bounties?

Still a friendly recommendation: you should stop trying to read between the lines. When I pointed out that "I've not used split-pulling tactics [yet]", it means just that and doesn't imply anything else. Btw, at least three party members should be level 4 when arriving at the dig site, but that's just a minor detail.

I completed Digsite just by stealth then went to Nekitaka, did some non-combat quests to gain levels and returned to collect loot.

How did you sneak by that room with the Wisps, Ghosts and the Adra Ooze? Do I need a high amount of stealth to get to the pillar?

For your main character wizard or any damage dealer, I suggest maxing out perception over int and might. need to make sure you hit consistantly. 18 perception is good. i go 20. any damage class it would be advised to max out perception. If your main is a healing/buffing character don't need.

for wizard you really do not need high resolve. maybe 10-12. get spirit shield and arcane veil and good to go. especially if you keep him/her in the back. just a suggestion.

I would also suggest making Eder a pure fighter with sword and board and spec him for pure protection. get all those passive resist in fighter skill tree. he is a beast and can soak up alot of damage. let your other characters do the damage. It really helps on potd having one very good tank who can engage multiple enemies with skils like hold the line and guardian stance.

I am currently doing a play through with my main a dual sword devoted fighter/trickster rogue. Eder pure fighter tank, Xoti contemplative, Aloth pure wizard, Palligena herald. really fun group.

sorry can't help much. I never stealth. but probably need to have stealth higher. there is a pair of boots you can buy that has 2 stealth on them on the merchant over next to that musician guy. and I believe is some food that has stealth on it. also eder has a necklace that has 1 stealth on it. take it off him. maybe repec your main with all stealth and respec after.

but seriously if you have a group of 5, your should not need to stealth at all, even on potd.

make two characters to add to your main character, eder, and aloth. make them both palladin/priest or priest/chanter (summon is really good to distract the mobs). with all that healing you should be good to go.

Another post like this? Jesus. How many noobs do I have to help...

If you can't play on potd then don't. It's clearly not for you if you can't beat the digsite because that means you lack game knowledge on how the combat works. I solo'd it on POTD and i would say gorreci street is actually worse than the digsite if you know what you're doing.

Check the other thread on here where I gave my tips on how do it.

So instead of using stealth to get past those enemies, I managed to lure them, one-by-one, in such a way that EVENTUALLY my Level 3/4 party from Berath's Challenge finally worked. If I had to guess, those battles lasted 20 - 35 mins of luring and killing these enemies patiently while rationing my abilities, which I do enjoy out of this mode compared to the base-game but that seems steep from the get-go.

It definitely wasn't possible withiout using as many exploits, potions, etc. to get the battle finally done, but it is more plausible than I assumed. (And then all the topside mobs vanished.)

gj! if i can do it solo, then it is infinitely easier for you to do it in a party.

I finished that fight at the bottom of the pit (next to cage) in about 5-6 minutes with my party. 3 in my party were level 4 and 2 were level 3. I did it with 2 pulls, so just two fights. this was on POTD level scaling up. that is the hardest difficulty you can set the game on. well, there is trial of iron, but that just gives you one save, it does not make the game harder. And I used zero empowers and zero potions. I honestly do not know why there is such a problem with this.

as for gorreci street. another easy fight. The trick is to pull that front mob next to the steps away and fight him with your tank and focus everyone else on the mobs in the back on the porch. that front guy is one tough sob and if you try to bring him down first, you will just beat on him while the others in back cream you with ranged. if you try to fight this guy next to the steps he blocks the steps so you cannot get up to the guys in back. once you get the guys in back down focus this dude down. also fight the 3 mobs to the far left first. you can fight these without agroing the main group.

So is the game finally balanced ?

Didn't bought it yet because people were saying even in POTD fights were getting boring after some point.
