(Spoilers) Faction/Companion Conflict
As I understand it, depending on which faction you commit yourself to, some of your companions will leave the party. I want to know if there is anyway around this if I still want to get a faction-specific ending. Yes, I do want one of the main three factions to win.

Specifically, I want to know if it is possible to keep Maia if I want the Vailian ending. Maybe if I don't have her in the party when I get and do the quest, she won't leave? Just want to know if there's really no way around this.

You may want to try the following:

Don't follow the Vailian path at first. Work for the RDC until you get the task to assassinate the Queen of Neketaka. Refuse the task. Doing so turns the RDC hostile without Maia leaving. Kill the 2 leaders. Then finish the Vailian path, you won't get the powderhouse quest if the leaders are dead. Was in a relationship with Maia and did her quest first however.

I sided with Aeldys' Principi and nobody said nothing nor left the reservoir.

AFAIK not having her in the party should work, but if you put her back in and talk to her, she might leave then.

She'll send you a note and leave, if she's not in the party.

Edit. It happens after blowing up the powderhouse. Not sure about a way around (killing the hazanui and the spymaster, thus skipping the above-mentioned task?).

Alright. Cool. That really sucks, though it feels like something Obsidian would do. Probably should have seen it coming.

Weird thing is, I liked both Maia and Xoti a lot. Went with Maia cause I thought my Watcher being kind of anti-God would eventually put me into this exact situation with Xoti. I didn't want to choose between a love interest and the ending I would prefer for my Watcher. Funny how things turn out.

That's why you shoulda picked the religious one. They're so gullible that you can punch their god in the face, tell them that the god wanted you to do it and they'll believe you.

But Xoti is such a sweet girl...

... Except when she's trying to pick a fight with Pallegina. Then she just come across as someone throwing a tantrum with little provocations.

Though the real question is, why can't I romance Modwyr? Ydwin would also be pretty great I guess. Not that I'm complaining about the option I do have, mind, but when everyone has such strong beliefs it helps to have a bigger pool to choose from.

Anyway. Thanks for the answers.

Genius. I'll give that a shot. Thanks a bunch.

Edit: Just out of curiosity... she really has nothing to say about that? Just a yes or no please. I guess she's more forgiving if you didn't provoke the attack.

I don't recall her saying anything about this particular incident, which sort of surprised me.

Her ending slides come up as usual then? She doesn't quit the navy or anything?

To be honest, I don't remember the details of her ending slide in that playthrough. She definitely had one however. I suppose it depends on the advice you gave her after doing her quest.

Yeah I know that one. I skimmed the wiki for ending slides so I know what kind of things affect the outcome (I know it's not good practice, but I don't like to replay games and I would very much like to have a "good" save file to upload to the sequel), and one of them involve her leaving the navy, which as far as I know isn't related to her quest (could be, but I've done her quest and it never came up). I'm a bit concerned that that is the outcome if the RDC people are dead. Guess I'll ask around to see what triggers that.
