Poof. There went that play through.
Patch dropped and borked my poison sage build mid game. Time to start over for like the 20th time.

I didn't notice that the patch was like 2 hours ago. It crashed my game on a reload or I'd have let it run till I could finish on the weekend.

Best to wait till November, which I think is when the DLCs come out, and most (if not all) of the balancing patches would be done by then. My condolences towards your losses though.

You should keep those previous saves though, just in case they finally start buffing abilities to tweak their nerf bombs
djinnxy Jun 27, 2018 @ 9:06pm
yup. I tried it. Almost everything that was anything on that build is nerfed. Potions, drugs, poison key words. Poison, potions, and bombs are now a thing of the past. No point having alchemy as a skill or taking nalpazca now.

Damn, I think the same thing happened to me. 94 hours in game, I was in chapter 3 wrapping things up, but now when I try to load the save, it never loads.

Well now that it doesn't matter if I post the build because I don't have to hide from the nerf bat...

Nalpazca/Wizard (no sub)

Nature godlike

Stats heavy on int, mig, per, res

max alchemy and history

snakeskin grimoire

Main hand fist off hand Vion-Ceth/ second wep fist/fist / 3rd wep nannasin's cobra strike

Devil of Caroc armor or blackened plate

Neck Soul Void or Bonesetter torc

Cloak Giftbearer

Belt Instant Potion Belt

Boots w/e

Ring of greater regen and kuara's prize

gloves gate crashers or apothecary gloves

Pet Abraham

Monk Skills

two weapon fighting

Force of Anguish > Efficient Anguish

Lesser wounds

Swift strike > Lightning Strike

Thunderous Blows

Rooting Pain

Innervating Blows

Duality of Mortal Presence > Either upgrade

(unfinished...)

Wizard Skills

Spirit Shield

Mirrored Image

Infuse With Vital Essence

Necrotic Lance

Concelhaut's Draining Touch

Ryngrim's Repulsive Visage

Spirit of Decay

(unfinished...)

That's about half way through. This with a no sub druid. Tank custom gold pact/ unbroken. Off tank Eder fighter. And Ydwinn mindstalker (dies every single fight lol)

The idea was to take every advantage of drugs, potions, poison/plant key word, and vionceth while having the option to switch to full blunt or use the cobra spell for pierce and poison. Now the idea is to start over and use a build that wasn't nerfed into oblivion.

Isn't "release now, balance later" fun?

It took them about a year to get POE1's classes to where they are now. Maybe a bit too optimistic to expect Obsidian to cut that time in half with a larger game(on top of the potential balancing for all the DLCs).

Personally, I won't be starting a true playthrough until after all the DLC is released. I know Obsidian's MO too well at this point.

With OEI games, turn of updates until you finish a playthrough. I remember back when PoE was released, it was the only way to get through a playthrough at the rate they were changing the rules.

Maybe you are still subscribed to the beta channel.

I think its only the beta branch. If you revert to stable it should be playable for a little while. Also, you can move the game directory, and "uninstall" the game since it's DRM free. This will prevent it from updating. They semi-broke my Wizard/Soul Blade build a bit back (nerfed the wiz's defensive buffs. . .lost a fair bit of deflection as a result as well as hit > graze)

Yeah, not an official update. Just turn off the beta branch and your build should revert to normal.

Although if my build got gimped half-way through, I would just power through.

Or use mods to revert the change.

I've started backing up the gamedatabundles.

Thanks guys. I know i can turn off beta and turn off updates after it reverts. I was just a little miffed last night. Who wouldn't be? I'll slog through as I started then deal with the updates on the next run.
