Can I transfer my character from PoE1 to PoE2?
Hey, is this like mass effect where you transfer your character from the first game to the second, or do I start as a new character?

Edit1: Thanks for the answers.

But you can completely change your race/gender/class/whatever when importing so you can take advantage of the new options in character creation.

You wont keep any of your 'stuff' though, due to plot reasons. If you want, you can also use one of 5 predone histories or You can also make your own fake import file within the options of the new game. So you don't need to replay the entire first game to have a different import.

The choice is yours.

You can transfer your character from the first game or you can start with a new character. If you transfer, you aren't really transferring the character though, but rather you transfer your decisions from the first game. You can customize your character either way. You'll need your final save from the first game. Also, there were some bugs with the import, but the new beta patch has mostly cleared them.

There's an event to save a chest with stuff saved from the Keep. So it's fake? Choose the chest and you get nothing?

After introduction, the statue of the keep says it restored some items, and there's one I thought it was from my save. Ok it's not much.

The predone histories plus choose a few key choices won't replace a full save options, there's some more consequences than those from those choices and you can't simulate fully a save.

It would be much better to have a DLC to simulate a save like in Mass Effect first trilogy.

i just saved the crate on my most recent run and i got 2 random ingredients and killer gloves(bonus crit dmg) but i was using the "survival of the fittest" story preset

no clue if u get different items on each run or if they change if u import a save/use different presets

If you save the crate its next to you when you wake up. Its just a few items. Its not your gear from the first game. You're better off saving the guy.

You can already do this very thing. Go to the options from the main menu and you can create a full save, choice by choice just like mass effect. Without the terrible comic book. Then you can select that created backstory in game alongside the existing presets.

Thanks, it's weird this option isn't in game play, for the chest and the crew isn't the crew die anyway right after? I thought it did and thought next time I'll get the chest.

Hey there...

I have PoE1 in The Origin
At the time the Game release it wasnt in Steam so I bought it there..
I have PoE2 in Steam.

Now I want to know, if I can import my Charakter(Story) anyway.
The Save-Date must be saved somewhere on my PC arent it?
So can PoE2 find or read it somehow?

Yes, here the locations:
https://forums.obsidian.net/blog/7/entry-175-location-of-save-games/

You can bet no matter the game version of PoE2 it checks all possible locations.

When you are close to finish the campaign there's an automatic save with gamecomplete.savegame in its name, PoE2 is looking for such save.

its not worth it, you dont even keep unique quest talents like one that splits your soul with one archmage, very lazy

There's still a collection of small consequences without any effect then be here, but it's still better it's come from your real choices in first game.
